I'm currently closed to review requests.

Usually I wouldn't close for the year until after Halloween (and with notice) but the brain has not been braining recently.

I'll hopefully reopen in the new year!

(Or I'll get excited and jump the gun in late December idk.)

It is a universal truth that the second grilled cheese you make always comes out worse than the first.

Me looking at an even bigger pile of dishes than two days ago.

My fave authors with a voice unique enough to fuck up AI:

Gail Carriger
GM Nair
Deston Munden
Elizabeth Peters
Octavia E. Butler
I think it would be fun if writers who love language started intentionally writing more strangely as AI flattens written "content" into a mono-voice. it would cool I think if writers responded by focusing their individual efforts on cultivating a really unique voice that's hard to copy

Saw someone post about the Indieverse Awards.

Got super excited about another indie awards I could judge for.

This was the first post I saw about it.

Guess I'm sticking to IIA and Small Spec. 🥲

TIL that the indieverse awards organizer is not only frequently a nominee in the awards she created, runs, and *judges* but that she has won in the past. fucking gross. hard pass on that from me. i know being indie is rough! but this is not the way. 🚮

Kyne Santos discusses this in her book "Math in Drag."

The "joke" is so deeply rooted that many queer people internalize it as truth and refuse to even try learning math at a deeper level.

I also hate that these trends seem tailor made to validate bigots and incels.
I don’t like the whole “girl math/dinner/whatever” thing and I feel the same about “gays can’t do math,” which just appeared in the queer romance I’m reading. Get the fuck out. Don’t disrespect Alan Turing like that

My MIL commissioned me to make some cup cozies for my SIL's Christmas present.

She was so pleased with my first one she wants to buy 4. ☺️

Gotta say it again

DOOMERISM IS THE IDEOLOGY OF THE LAZY

If "nothing can be done" then you're off the hook for doing anything.
Zero tolerance for doomerism. Stop lazily accepting that everything is screwed forever. Stop normalising low expectations. That’s part of the problem & it’s what the bastards want. It’s also a product of privilege. People in more desperate situations don’t have the option to just sit back & shrug.

Why am I already seeing 2026 goal videos the first week into December?

Have we moved up when end-of-year content starts???

I just started scheduling my content DON'T DO THIS TO ME NOW

Good news, I learned how to do vibrato on the flute.

Bad news, my brain now wants to do it on ALL THE NOTES EVER.

On average, I read 120 to 150 books a year.

So I mean it when I say books are not inherently better than any other form of media.

There are just as many "tf did I just read" books as there are stellar narrative games.
The interesting, sophisticated thing about games is not whether they can tell stories as well as books or movies (they can’t) or float shocking themes as well as fine art (honestly, who cares).

It’s the manipulation of systems, the play of contingency, the brokenness of machines.

Flunked out of the meteorology program for my "rain is actually angel tears" paper and now I have a reoccurring segment on Fox News.
I received an "F" on my dental school paper for writing "the tooth fairy takes 'em while you sleep" and now I'm suing the school for religious discrimination

The mob mentality around that story is the reason I gave up the phrase "own voices" entirely.
I Sexually Identify as an Attack Helicopter wasn't actually that intense. A lot of the "queer community" pilloried a trans woman and ran her out of society entirely and buried her literary future because they felt like it and they could taste blood in the water, and that's how all this works.

Don't forget your indie author friends suffering from the Amazon boycott.

Make sure to hit up alternate sources for indie books to help them make up the lack!

A singer-songwriter friend would like people to know that while boycotting Spotify is great, it was also 16% of their income that is now cratering. So if you're cancelling Spotify, please pair that with buying music, merch, or live tickets directly from your favorite artists

The magic of Christmas only disappears for people who fell for the myth of adult stoicism and cringe culture.

If you trained yourself out of whimsy the other 11 months of the year, it's not gonna suddenly bounce back now.
