If you look at US mass incarceration level over time, you can see where Biden the senator's policies ramped up mass incarceration under Nixon/Reagan/Clinton.

My approach to working on games is not that someone did it wrong but that I just had another idea I got obsessed with and wanted to pursue. For Exalted it's that I developed an affinity towards the nWoD core and wanted to use it as a base because it did what I wanted to see done for the games.

I think I solved some of the problems inherent in the Craft skill - for me, anyhow - by making some kinds of specialized knowledges Merits, not Skills. I don't know that it's helpful to have to unlock a special craft skill for something like magitech when a Merit lets you apply your skill to it.

Thinking on this, roughly, making a lower number of successes more powerful - which the nWoD game would do by making 5+ successes a critical success. Solar Charm clauses that go off exclusively on the 5+ success with an Excellency set that makes that reliable will give you a trademark Solar Spike
But I do think that making the Solars the "we're just the best at everything" group is not interesting so there's a challenge in design to work with here - one I find interesting. How do you keep them broadly powerful, give them their niche, allow Solar peaks but mortal playable valleys?

I just never really thought that the tech angle in Exalted made things worse but what I do think is that there's always a White Room Problem in forum discourse with game systems where it presumes that characters have access to anything that's ever been printed and I think THAT was detrimental.

One of the Exalted things I always found interesting was that there's still a lot of technology laying around but it's built on different principles and they just never bothered to innovate many things that mortals use because society is Exalted centered.
