Thinking about how republicans were going to the border nonstop in 2024 even though fucking nothing noteworthy was going on and doing interviews and press conferences with their asshole supporters down there and screaming "SHE'S NEVER BEEN TO THE BORDER" and made it a national crisis
Something I might consider doing as the opposition party is going to Minneapolis as a show of solidarity, particularly since there's nothing for me to do in Congress because I don't have the votes

I have a genuine belief that president should be like jury duty and randomly assigned for a few months at a time. No one who wants to be president should be allowed to be president, and even the worst ones won't be worse than what we have now
one of my kinda more crank, unworkable ideas is that there are jobs where the people who self-select into them are not the people who you want & that maybe we should just sortition people into those roles. like there are some things that attract people to policing that you don't want in cops.

Democratic leadership is terrified of being seen on the side of the people of Minneapolis, least they lose the potential future support of pro-cop people whose support they do not and never will have.
I have been actively involved in protest movements for 24 years. I have never seen anything approaching this scale. Minneapolis is not accepting what's happening here. ICE fucking murdered a woman for participating in this, and all that did is bring out more people, from more walks of life.
