Well that's...that's just not how this works. (I did have an English teacher tell me I would never be a writer because I was bad at spelling. Guess what? Professional writer, still bad at spelling.)

It's been over a dozen years but every now and then I think about how my 11th grade English teacher told me I couldn't submit my short story for an assignment cause the story took place over like 6 months. She said short stories can only take place in a short period of time, like a few hours.

My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.

On the other side was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for his help.
"I wasn't planning on letting her stay, but I didn't know what the hell was going on," the man said of his Venezuelan migrant neighbors. But he quickly relented. The little girl was inconsolable and hid under his bed.
"I didn't want them to take her," said the man, who didn't want to be named because he fears he'll be targeted by federal authorities for his actions.
"I gave her my bedroom, and I just told her,
'Just stay there. Don't open, don't, shh, just stay quiet," he recalled telling the mom and daughter as he choked back tears.

Saying someone is a "member of antifa" is like saying someone is a "member of socialism" or something. it makes zero sense. But they can't use the ideological form of the word because it makes it too clear what the ideology actually is and it would include our grandpas

We buried her at sunset today, in an underground tomb with many grave goods. Rest soundly, good kitty.

She was the smartest cat I ever knew. We often said she was a witch who accidentally trapped herself in a cat's body, and I'm sure if she'd had opposable thumbs the world would have been at her mercy.
