Times have been so strange I feel self-conscious to speak more of my games, which I affectionately call "anxiety machines".

But although it's can be stressful, Metronomes can be hopeful too.

I'm dying realizing something about the Frog Uprising in PDX:

In my language, a colloquial way to say "figure it out" is something like "leap around".

My city has an extended version, poetically fitting:

🐸 "put on your frog suit and leap around" 🐸

Portlanders: aye aye

(In my country, today is important: day of our patron saint, and Childrens' day. Sure, friends aren't Brazilian, but it matters to me and I hope I can meet the little bean soon 💜)

My friends' baby was just born. Big, looks like daddy, mommy is well and even rested.

Shut up, world. Someone just arrived to be loved by you. 💜

I know I'll be tired of seeing snow and yearning for Summer again very soon. But so far, snow has been the most incredible thing I've seen: so mundane and annoying and fantastical and wonderful.

I'll be sad if I ever stop being giddy at snowfall.
marscardua.bsky.social
The first time I saw snow at all I was 22 and change. It was out of a moving train.

The first time I got to actually walk around in the snow to make a snowman etc I was 32. And it was just one night of snow here, another there.

Excuse me this is all freakish to me. The world is magic.

What the priest did was to carry an artifact that is, in Cath tradition, the ACTUAL PRESENCE OF JESUS THAT CONSACRATES A TEMPLE, to the detainment center.

Guys, what happened is that ICE turned *actual Jesus* away from its doors, from the Catholic perspective.

fr. Larry you're a genius.

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

Last repost: OP (smartly) doesnt have qrps and replies turned on for everybody, but please read the thread. This is one of the most HARDCORE acts of resistance against ICE so far and we all know that title must not be given lightly.

if you’re not Catholic, let me real quick tell you about the breathtaking audacity of bringing the monstrance with him

a monstrance is a big bedazzled gold ornament with a round glass window in the middle where you put a consecrated wafer, usually the bigger ceremonial one and not the bite-size

to Catholics, the monstrance is considered the literal presence of Christ. outside of Mass it’s often used for what’s called Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, which is anything from sitting in silence to a whole prayer service with readings and music, with the monstrance on the altar

the monstrance doesn’t leave the church very often and is handled with incredible reverence and care. kid altar servers are NOT allowed to touch it, I vividly recall. usually only the priest carries it out and puts it back. if a priest is holding a monstrance he is saying Jesus is PHYSICALLY here

this is more than just marching in full regalia to Broadview and praying outside of it

this is very deftly trapping ICE into the position of having to literally - LITERALLY, to them - turn Christ away from the door

any Catholic ICE officer was probably shook, I’m really not exaggerating

when we talk about political theatre sometimes being Good, Actually™️, this is what we mean. the trads are the reason Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament came back in fashion in the youth ministry world (where I learned about it). they take it REALLY seriously. this priest weaponized that so adroitly
