Every day making is better than any day not making. Costume season and my littles love ghosts and pumpkins. 🎃 👻

Oh I’m sorry to have given you false hope.

It’s so pretty! I did a quick search and it seems that Banner Creek Designs offers a foundation piecing pattern. I’d love to see your work if you make one!

The @nytimes.com , @washingtonpost.com & the rest treat #RussellVought like he's a run-of-the-mill small government conservative. The man is a religious zealot that wants to bring down the state & replace it with an American theocracy out of Margaret Atwood. It's the biggest story no one is telling.

Sunday reading:

I wrote about the aggrieved extremist who is currently firing thousands of federal workers and ravaging state capacity based on conspiratorial nonsense - and about mainstream media’s infuriating tendency to sanitize Russell Vought and the regime he serves.

This week’s piece:
We need to talk about Russell Vought – But Properly
Why certain mainstream outlets insist on sanitizing Vought as a devout “small government” conservative – and what actually animates his war against pluralistic democracy

I spend so much time on social media and I’m not sure it’s improving my life in any way. I have always craved access to information but this may be too much! I lived most of my life in the beforetimes and I’m seriously considering a return to Walden Pond.
Could a group of strangers go a month without their smartphones? Could I?
The fliers that appeared in our D.C. neighborhoods didn’t offer much beyond a phone number and a challenge: “DITCH YOUR SMARTPHONE.”

I’m willing to bet new “lawful” labor will be the same laborers but the pay will go to the private detention centers that will lease out that labor. A new twist on an old American tradition. 🤬

"The Labor Department warned in an obscure document filed with the Federal Register last week that 'the near total cessation of the inflow of illegal aliens' is threatening 'the stability of domestic food production and prices for U.S. consumers.'”
Trump administration says immigration enforcement threatens higher food prices
U.S. farmers face labor shortages and potential food price hikes due to Trump’s immigration policy, the administration acknowledged in a Federal Registry document.

I saw that too and commented on it. I also miss them both terribly but I won’t go back to Twitter.

Trump promised a golden age, he just didn’t mention that it would only be for his family and a small circle of people with influence and advance access to announcements.🤬🤬🤬

What drives me nuts about this dialogue: diversity and inclusion training was a corporate response to the statutory requirements civil rights laws. None of these laws have been repealed by Congress. Congress can pass the laws under Section 5 of the 14th Amendment, which has also not been repealed.

lol gentle reminder that DEI is not illegal. Supporting marginalized groups is not illegal. Anyone reneging on support is making a CHOICE to do so.

It will be. It’s the getting there that I don’t enjoy. 😬✈️

It’s glorious! I find it incredibly calming. My son and his family will be moving back to Hawaii next year so my visits there will resume! I’ll be glad to watch the Hawaiian skies again.

Honestly! I doubt he could even name the pieces.

I miss Rick! @rickpetree.bsky.social was one of my absolute favorite Twitter friends. It’s tough to leave the old neighborhood.

I hope he spends the rest of his miserable life tied up in lawsuits. I don’t usually wish ill on people but he is unleashing horrors on children and adults as part of what seems to just be a whim gone haywire.

My verse novel Hekate has spent 3 weeks on the NYT bestseller list, but also it has been #1 and #2 on the Indie bestseller list because Indie bookstores and booksellers have championed the book so much. Words cannot express how much that means to me.

I have nothing against rich, mediocre white men born to privilege. They should be allowed to live their lives as they choose. BUT they are not entitled to make important decisions for others. It’s insane that we are letting dumb, dull, angry men dictate things they don’t understand.

NEW: A senior ICE official testified today the WH Homeland Security Council — and not the State Department — informed him Uganda was the deportation target for Abrego Garcia.

DOJ then asserted presidential privilege over any other details about the call. www.wusa9.com/article/news...
