Als kind besloten we thuis een handje te helpen. Dat zou 'n leuke verrassing zijn voor onze ouders bij hun thuiskomst.

De koffiezet, kan & filterhouder waren heel zwart. Daar was straf spul voor nodig, dus ging ik die smurrie te lijf met Cif.

De vloer mocht ook. Daarvoor kozen we pure bruine zeep.

Here, (100km)³ is very imaginable, no?

That's large, but 1hr drive either side of a cube of dust is quite at human scale, no?

Could be 3hrs or 20mins, too, but *tangible* 😁

I've been added to some AI haters list.

I ❤️ #Obsidentify. That's AI plant and animal recognition. It teaches me about the species I encounter and maps occurrences for scientific research. I think that's fantastic!

Trying to get some sense of scale on that:

1 ton ~ 1m³
1 billion tonnes ~ 1km³

Per second.
86400s in 24hrs. ~ 100.000.
6 times that, ~ 1000.000 or 100³.

So every day, 100*100*100km accretion.

For comparison, every day about 100 tonnes space dust falls onto Earth, or about 3 40ft containers.

Met winter in 't vooruitzicht is dat ook mijn plan: die binnensport gaan doen die ik zo leuk vind en waar, mooi meegenomen, nog mensen aan doen die misschien wel liever de massa mijden.

Groepsmensen hebben 't zo relatief makkelijker: die zoeken dan een hoop volk op.

Okay, so this is fascinating. It still sucks that our flight is delayed by hours, and that I've missed my connection, but I love tangible examples of fractal complexity in systems, so at least there's a new example I can use to explain the concept.

Doesn't matter how large the commercial jet is, only for small private craft does JAR have a general engineering license.

Since Part 66 came along some 15 years ago, engineers even need to qualify for lots more individual subsystems: Someone may be active on hydraulics, but expired on landing gear.

On top, in aviation, systems from landing gear over engines and flight controls to avionics, just to name a few principal examples, are deemed complex systems with complex subsystems.

That's just on the tech, not the operational side.
