It’s because the “left” doesn’t have a funding base. The Democratic Party does but the donors are capitalists first and “progressives” second. They will not fund ideas that even hint at redistribution (for the most part - there are a very few, very awesome people who will/do).

And this answers your first question about why no one in DC is saying anything - they’re implicated fully. I do believe most of the smart ones understand this strategy but are not brave enough to expose it. That’s a guess but I’m not sure how else to explain it.

Yes. This is what they’re aiming for - capturing the government and rigging up an economy-wide snare that will go off and choke out everyone if they are allowed to fail, when the bill comes due. It’s a bailout business strategy and all the pieces are in place.
