Baudrillard would be so in to it

Derrida would be into it but would make you feel bad

Zizek would say it's a Stalin sweater

Yes, I am proud of out dicking a dick.

In *my* understanding of metaphysics, this can be a righteous act, but it's also filled with peril in that you may Become Dick. Star Wars, by way of Joseph Campbell, expressed this pretty well in Empire Strikes Back.
zota.bsky.social
Everyone thinks their version of the metaphysical basis of reality and the meaning of life is exactly the same for everyone else?

Interesting.

Have you ever thought about why you believe that?

Compare Rumi to JK Fucking Rowling? I will first annoy the living shit out of you and then I will find a way to haunt you.
zota.bsky.social
The Christian atheist and I have blocked each other. Since they're a fundamentalist, that was the only reasonable conclusion.

I am very annoying. But what I'm annoying *about* is the fact that no one knows. If you think you know? Got it all figured out? I am going to be sooo fucking annoying

Black Bloc:
- Immediate target
- you look like feds
- 10% of you are feds

Frog Bloc:
- feds don't know where to shoot you
- deflection perimeter for less lethal rounds
- your respirator and body armor are hidden
- even if you are a fed, you're still a dancing frog

"We don't have a mythology—we're just speaking the truth, seeing the world how it really is"

This is a foundational mythology of the West.

I don't think we're really disagreeing

Language is step 0 before even trying to understand a lived culture.

And yet.
zota.bsky.social
What I learned studying religion is that one of the central mythologies of the West is that we can understand everyone else, regardless of language, culture, experience, study, etc.

It's *painfully* common at all levels, in all fields.

They always aim rubber bullets and pepper balls at people's heads now. It's totally against policy and probably illegal, but they think it's funny.

So what if "head" is now frog??

the cute inflatable suits are *also* armor against less-lethal rounds and allows you to hide your gear.

Frog is Tactical

You're read a Bible. Sounds like the 17th century one commissioned by the gay king?

You were indoctrinated in a very specific tradition, and your beliefs—and manners—still reflect that foundation. I hope you can work it out.
zota.bsky.social
I'm sure you believe you know what plenty of books say.

You should actually read some. Try to understand what's being expressed.

But I realize that since you already have a full understanding of the universe, there's no point.
zota.bsky.social
You believe you know what other people believe, and that your beliefs different because they are all True.

You even believe you know what "the Bible" specifically refers to.

There are Christians who share your weird faith. I don't like them, either.

You keep citing Harry Potter. Please read another book.

Maybe try Rumi, or Tolsoy's book on Christian anarchist resistance.

Yes, this is exactly the counter-example I was describing.

Instead of humility about your own necessarily limited understanding of people separated from you by language and culture and society and millennia... you "get it."

You know exactly what they said, what they meant, and what they believed.

There are people who believe their own observation and interpretation of the world constitutes the only reality that matters.

Thoughts?
zota.bsky.social
I said this as a response to someone being snooty about scientific observation, and I regret making a mess in her mentions. I truly didn't expect the simple point to be so aggressively missed
zota.bsky.social
Maybe you should.

The nonsense they spout is that their racial superiority is a simple objective observation of the world, scientifically provable if you remove the blinders of fiction and myth.

Sound familiar.
zota.bsky.social
But when someone actually familiar with the language and culture would look in to it, their interpretations were ridiculously—but confidently—wrong.

A core Western mythology is that we "get it." We can figure out other cultures better than they can themselves.

False. But that's colonialism for ya
