I thought this was a joke but it’s an actual post from the White House: “we are ending the war on protein”

How about ending the war on the health of this country?

"Hello, I’m Dave Marcus. I’m a columnist for Fox News Digital. My passion is going around the country and talking to people, telling their stories, and giving them a voice in the national political conversation" - Marcus' Fox News bio

Marcus why did you give up on your dreams dude

This is a stupendous "big if true" claim and I would genuinely love to see any evidence or experiments
there's good evidence with other thought-avoidance devices, like even turn by turn GPS, that such behavior *globally* lowers cognitive capacity.

Someone should figure out how many beers it takes to make you as stupid as a routine user of ascended parking meters.

I have just realized that the divisive issue around thanksgiving for me is not "are trans people people" but "is it ever ok to use current AI models to do anything" and fully predict a bunch of "how to talk about AI over Friendsgiving" articles later this year

Pretty excited for this
I love Starfleet Academys theme of the kids challenging the notion that Starfleet is an inherently good institution by virtue of its liberal progressive legacy alone but instead must change through accountability for its past harm & by refusing to create a homogenized culture that subsumes diversity

When I say Starfleet Academy gets Star Trek, THIS is what I mean. The best Star Trek, IMO, is one that showcases that Starfleet and the Federation is not a utopia, but instead a future where we continually reach for a better future together, and help each other to do by uplifting our uniqueness.

Re Tyler Cowen, this must be one of the ways Greenlanders will prosper under US rule, right?

Uruguay built a power grid that runs 99% on renewables—at half the cost of fossil fuels. Here’s how its bold energy overhaul became a global model.

"Prosper" presumably actually and more clearly means "be eligible for all the benefits available through more direct participation in the U.S. economic model" and you know exactly what I think that is.
