I read that as 'thirsty sickos'.

That's whom I write for.

I'll only find out if there are 30 of them when my novel is published.
“Make art for thirty sickos,” is good advice.
“Be somebody’s sicko,” is GREAT advice.
“Do both!” is better, still.

Being part of a community is amazing. Yes, it takes work. You gotta support people in ways that are kind of labour intensive. Gushing over a buddy’s new thing is one of the best parts.
Bra jobba!

Thank goodness for the subtitles — I can only understand about half of what they're saying, but everything with the subtitles.
For anyone interested. It's in Norwegian though. Someone saw the solution from his apartment and went outside to solve it.

"The person alleged to have shot two National Guards, on whose medical conditions it is too early to give a statement, is innocent until proven guilty. I will say nothing that might bias the judicial process. Reflecting on my own culpability, though, I recognise that I must address many questions."
Not quite English, but you get the gist.

I miss yesterday's pie discourse when people tried to defend pecan pie by saying every single pecan pie you've ever seen is not a pecan pie.

Not even *as* a cis man is it a good idea to model oneself with respect to the cis male norm.
once you notice that the most heinous violence and worst oppression in the world is almost invariably perpetrated by cis men, is it morally just to continue shaping yourself by comparison to this norm?

Debate? DEBATE?? Pie discourse today is about fighting. Courteousness and respect are for tomorrow. Today my pie enemies will kneel before me.

Fruit's all well and good, but the best pie is steak and kidney.

I will be taking no further questions at this time.

The man most empowered against science
The Atlantic is calling RFK Jr the most powerful man in science.

He’s not a scientist or a doctor.

He’s completely unqualified to lead HHS.

This is a shameful example of the media bending a knee.

I’m a past winner of the Orwell Prize & won partly because I exposed Vote Leave’s unlawful activities.

Michael Gove was its co-convener & refused to answer a single q. He’s now a judge of the prize & our world is truly one that Orwell would recognise

This must be bad.

I just know it's bad.

I can't explain a circumstance in which it's bad.

But I do know the solution: blockchain!

Richard Ayoade's 'Neuromancer'
Joe Cornish's "Snow Crash"
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

Damn you, genAI, for time travelling back more than a decade and building a data center!

It's a good job social networks and online games don't run in data centers...

"Now I'm no computer scientist, but it seems like what you're saying is that every time we post an image, you're going to harvest our stem cells, grow a clone in a secret underground laboratory, then force that clone to operate an OnlyFans site. A really nasty one. I'm never posting here again."

You know things are bad when people have to turn to Discord to become *less* delusional and more grounded.
NEW: A Discord community with nearly 200 members serves as a support group for people whose minds and lives have been upended by episodes of AI delusion and psychosis.

In some cases, members say, the group has helped people climb out of their destructive AI "spirals."

Had to look too. It's only sucked up my academic work. My short fiction is in anthologies that (I think) are print-only. I think I'd prefer this remains so, even if that's at the cost of an audience (apologies if print is not accessible for you).
I went and looked. Some of my books are there, but...more of the small press anthologies I've been in, and those have the most downloads.

Thieves. Several of those anthologies were *charity* anthologies, to boot.

Shame. Shame. Shame.
I posted a buy link here to "A Magical Inheritance" a few days ago, and 24 of you immediately went to Anna's Archives and fucking stole it from me.

Yes, stole it.

I do not get paid for your download there because YOU ARE STEALING FROM ME.

I always have this at home and in the office (where there is champagne and prosecco far too often, though I've made some headway in making this an alternative always offered). I swear it's the best alcohol-free drink. Not to seem entitled, but I first had it at a three Michelin-starred restaurant.

npr doesn’t report on stories until they’re fully cooked. that’s what they do. it’s why they’re often behind social media on breaking stories. so, this morning i saw this and it is not a great sign. my favorite bit was when the google exec says: oh, yeah. we’re fucked.

Tech companies are pouring billions into AI chips and data centers. Increasingly, they are relying on debt and risky tactics. Financial analysts are worried there's a bubble that will soon pop.

Yet again an ignorance of the difference between training, inference (e.g. text generation) and retrieval bites half of Bluesky (or just my personal network?) again.

Thankfully one of the people spreading the misinformation (whom I won't shame) puts their hands up to it, but that won't be shared.
