i’m serious. if you want to fuck over the whole ai business model, support the library of congress. stealing all the books, poems, art, film… every creative thing supposedly copyright protected feeding it to ai for profit? turns out that’s not fair use.

NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

Did I write about an invisible horror so I could talk about the need to be seen?

Would I do that?

A poignant story about a father and a son and a third person who needs so badly to be acknowledged. Just as much as any person in a society that ignores systemic issues and can crush the human spirit so easily. Still, we persist.

100 yrs ago meds cld be marketed as cure-all. This did great harm as ppl took aspirin 4 cancer, liver-harming meds 4 liver ills etc. Regulation requiring meds to be *for something* reduced harm

Just so, even if LLMs are useful 4 specific things, they must not be marketed as universal search engines
"LLM search results are even worse."

it depends on the subject

I work with computer programming, and LLMs are very reliable in this field ... also, it's possible to learn *a lot* with LLMs

love this: "The question is whether adoption [of AI] follows sustainable frameworks that deliver genuine local benefit, or extractive patterns that concentrate wealth offshore while imposing infrastructure burdens and environmental costs on local communities."

Second, I am VERY aware of ND-5's reputation as the Hot Droid. So I pitched a moment which was literally "ND-5 emerges from the water, like Daniel Craig in Casino Royale."

This moment made it into the book. You're welcome. THE END and PREORDER NOW and MORE TO COME

Recommend that your library buy the books you want to read! Often they will take suggestions both for physical AND ebooks (on overdrive? libby? whatever it is now)

there's also HOOPLA, which gives writers a pay-per-borrow amount!
just use the fucking library.

People who pirate books: “I just think art and literature should be FREE to everyone!”

Yes, I too would love to live in a world where art is accessible freely to all and yet artists are paid a living wage, but as this magical wagical pixie wixie land does not exist, please don’t steal from us.
