I still never had a proper thanksgiving meal but my family always had fried chicken with salt seasoning or Peking duck because cooking is too much work even when dining alone.
We understood it as a thing to "fit in" but really any excuse to eat well in my culture equates to living well.

The Silent Witch as an anime has an interesting premise but I find making the heroine the equivalent of infantilised animu moe blob is horribly one note - which is the norm anyway.

Person of Interest as a show would have never come up with "the bad guys are just stupid, greedy AND evil" because you can't squeeze much juice out of people so caricaturistically cruel and make that land in a serious way without everything turning into a dramedy.
