Last two I've read:
@genderhorizon.com / @emanabdelhadi.bsky.social 's Everything for Everyone ❤️❤️
Lee Young-Do's The Bird that Drinks Tears, Vol 1. (Vol. 2 only comes out next year 😭😭)
Next fiction I'm gonna read: Le Guin (three first books of hainysh cycle, then The Dispossessed), Lian Hearn (various), @goddessblade.bsky.social (Calyx Charm), Kazuo Ishiguro (Remains of the Day), and Kim Stanley Robinson (Red Mars)
One really good thing for me this year that is I've started reading and enjoying fiction again... I'll probably do a "books I read this year" list/review next month, it's been quite fun!!

Heck maybe I'll start enjoying music again too, any recs??

Update: the play's writer responded, explaining the play is intended for white & Jewish audiences. I asked why I was invited & she replied - "We are reaching beyond the normal theater-going public, which is why we contacted you."

LOL.

Her name is Francesca Root-Dodson.
Hello. If your play calls what's happening in Gaza a “conflict” & a “war”, centers the story of two white people’s marriage "torn apart after Oct 7" to do it & involves no Palestinians in “the team” in the process please stay the fuck out of my inbox with your complimentary tickets. Thank you.

A reminder that according to Fetterman's own former staffers, Fetterman had a meeting with J-Street president Jeremy Ben Ami in which he told Ben Ami that he believes Arabs are like a "carton of sour milk" and that we should get back to killing.

"Kill them all" Fetterman is reported as having said.

One thing the NYC mayoral race underscored for me is how easily the phrase "I don't feel safe" can be weaponized. It's an argument I would hesitate ever to use again, even for a good cause. I hope we can all agree that we have the right to BE safe. Maybe we should leave it at that.

This gorgeous piece from @hebagowayed.bsky.social is a must read! The casual Islamophobia hurled at Mamdani's campaign over the last few weeks has struck such a nerve for so many of us.
Friends— here it is. Updated & expanded thanks to the space afforded to me in the @therumpus.net & the guidance of the brilliant @roxanegay.bsky.social’s edits. The win centers Muslims humanity — but what does that mean in a country that rejects that?
