GOD, yes exactly!! I saw one politician say "We should abolish ICE because people want immigration enforcement that focuses on criminals" and its like no, actually what I want is an end to immigration enforcement generally

This David French article shows the analytic peril of ignoring the way normal policing and repression work in communities of color. The so-called "dual state" he's highlighting (laws applied unequally, non-compliance met with violence) is *exactly* what Black Lives Matter was protesting.

"In the wake of Good’s killing, politicians have claimed that ICE needs better training. The problem, as they see it, is the ramp-up of ICE under Trump, with a $75bn increase in funding. But Jonathan Ross has been with ICE for a decade. Ross wasn’t one of the subpar new recruits who can’t run a mile and a half; according to testimony he gave in December, obtained by Wired, he was a firearms trainer, team leader, and elite member of its special response unit – a Swat team. "Seen from this vantage, Good’s killing is not a “mistake” but a reflection of how the agency is designed to operate. Take it from the border czar, Tom Homan, who said: “There will be more bloodshed unless we decrease the hateful rhetoric.” In other words, Homan, who received an award for his service under Obama, after introducing the idea of family separation, is telling citizens that exercising their constitutional right to speech will prompt government agents to gun them down."

I put myself through the entire interview. Trust me when I tell you that Gavin "dank memes" Newsom agrees with him on EVERYTHING. I literally says "I agree with you" on EVERYTHING. Ben "extremely unpopular even with MAGA" Shapiro gets very combative with him and Gavin capitulates EVERY time.

I was speaking to a lawyer & admin are actively trying to send African Asylum seekers — specifically asylum— to Uganda to be processed.

Like the levels of violation of law & the racism is out of this world. People who escaped persecution, war, in some cases enslavement.

Gaza still deliberately deprived of water under illegal blockade. Oxfam and partners worked around the clock to repair vital water wells. Restoring limited water access for 156,000.

Mubashir and his family came to the United States as refugees from Ethiopia when he was a child, and they all became naturalized citizens in 2019.
