Fires are still burning in the Arctic in the winter. The climate catastrophe is here.
Spending political energy to massively increase pipeline production in Canada is not nation-building. It is planet burning.

We could live in a country where we reduce our energy bills, clean our air and water, revitalize our communities, take back our energy sovereignty, and create thousands of good-paying union jobs in the process.

The secret? Public ownership.

"Openly opposed to a ferry terminal in Royal Bay, [Colwood Mayor] Kobayashi said he was particularly concerned about the potential for valuable waterfront land to be consumed by parking lots."

Seems to me that Royal Bay needs a bus lane, and lots more buses?

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Any political “leader” still selling the obviously false choice between #ClimateAction and “the economy” is just reminding us that they clearly don’t understand either the climate crisis OR the economy.

Or they’re cynically hope that WE don’t understand the difference.

Or both.

Pretty convincing evidence here that the Trump administration was planning to jailbreak and provide asylum for Bolsonaro -- and that Trump inadvertently revealed the plan.

And this, as the now-cliche goes, would have been a paralyzing scandal for any other administration.

What do premiers Doug Ford (Ontario) and David Eby (BC) have in common? 'Bikelash' - political attacks on walking, rolling and cycling! (I understand Ford's motivations, but Eby's are a mystery.)

Today the ON gov't passed a bill which amends the Highway Traffic Act to ban municipalities from building any bike lane that would reconfigure roads.

We made a submission to Premier Doug Ford, Min. of Transport Prabmeet Sarkaria & Min. of Municipal Affairs & Housing Rob Flack.

Something very cool just happened to #Montreal.

Last week I got to ride on the REM line, now fully open from Brossard to Deux-Montagnes.

Automated. Electric. Frequent (2.5 minute headways). Fast (100 km/h plus). Cheap to build. (One tenth the price of other systems)

And really fun to ride...

Under the selected plan, the runway would be up to 3.5km long and require a new road tunnel under the airport.

This will kill people. Expecting people to be able to safely withdraw from fentanyl or other hard drugs *while being homeless* is an insanely high barrier that few can meet. Wet facilities don't work for everyone, but neither do dry facilities. We need to meet people where they're at.
And… I see that Councillor Gardiner, at COTW today, wants the city to explore converting "wet" sites to "dry".
