I decided to have a nostalgia hit this morning and watch an episode of Ultraman (episode 23, My Home is Earth) and quickly realized it had more interesting shot setups and lighting than almost any studio movie of today.

Looking at most of the reviews and such after I watched it, I realized I was the outlier. I didn't sync at all with the Aaron Taylor-Johnson stuff. Felt so generic to me. The second half was wild and was trying lots of new ideas. Hated the weird sequel bait ending though

Nothing against the person who runs the show - I have no idea who they are - but if I search for Nightmare on Elm Street now, instead of the movies, I get this as a result, which is useless and nonsense.

I've bounced off RDR 1&2, most of the GTAs, etc. because the open worlds made it too difficult/frustrating to just get the main story, but for some reason, both this and Tsushima are the only two that I made sure to see EVERYTHING. They're magical in a way I can't explain away

Don't get me wrong, I think Yotei's speed boost flower pads are pretty and cool. But I think the real answer to the question "how do we move players through the open world faster" is to make it smaller with less dead space
