For @aftermath.site, I spoke to @imodrew.bsky.social, the Sucker Punch dev fired after making a Charlie Kirk joke.

She paints a picture of an industry that all too often ignores bad actors until those bad actors threaten them financially.

I was lucky enough to work with @elisefavis.bsky.social for one of my first interview features, which was an essential learning experience, and @jenglen.bsky.social helped me learn how to frame more focused, tighter story angles. Would not have accomplished what I've done without them!
By the way, it's National Editor Appreciation Day.

Nobody ever reads a great article and thinks, "Dang, that was some tight editing." But editing is a big part of how it got to be great.

So writers, if you've ever worked with a good editor, shout 'em out.

Cool free stuff alert: They're giving away the base version of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 this weekend.

Really good co-op first-person brawler about the world's most dysfunctional friend group fighting through the ratpocalypse.

There's some decent DLC but they've added a LOT for free over the years.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is not Dragon Quest I or Dragon Quest II, but it is a a classic song of hope for our modern, hopeless times. In one of my deepest dives yet, I unpack how these games have changed, and how the meaning of Dragon Quest has evolved for me through these remakes. #blutoid

NEW: Ubisoft has unveiled a playable GenAI experience called 'Teammates.'

The R&D experiment was unveiled during a behind-closed-doors event in Paris this week and is part of a push to pioneer "the future of generative play."

Will have dev interviews next week, but for now here's the scoop:

Today is the day to tell a strange story.

The long version we'll tell later, but the short version is this. In an attic, in his late great-uncle's house, @jon.inkle.co found a locked trunk. It took twenty years to open. Last summer he did.

Inside was a wiring diagram, and a stack of books.

More on the Tales series recent failures in crediting localizers:
Did you know that as of 2014, the "Tales of" RPG series actively stopped crediting their English localizers, with the sole exception of Tales of Berseria (2017)? That's pretty sad for a genre that supposedly lives or dies based on the quality of its writing! #TranslatorsintheCredits

Sure would be nice if they'd also credit the English voice actors, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, and Russian localizers (English, Spanish, and Chinese were at least credited), as well as the localizers who work on any new text for this remaster, too... #TranslatorsintheCredits

Idk if Berseria's side quest translations ever got updated post-launch, but if not, hopefully Bandai fixes it for the remaster
