Had the opp to write about why I loved God of War: Ragnarok so much 3 years after its release and how it stood apart from other cinematic adventure games by taking the time to breathe and feel as weighty as the mythological epics it honors. Read at #GamesRadar: www.gamesradar.com/games/god-of...
God of War: Ragnarok shows us the value of a slower pace and not playing by the rules – no PS5 game feels as definitively epic
Now Playing | The excesses of the second and final chapter of God of War’s Norse saga are what made it special and truly epic

Dispatch's success has helped break the AA narrative genre's losing streak.

I dug into how Dispatch models how dropping adventure game convention – in this case the very concept of level design – can help a struggling genre rediscover its reason to exist.

Dispatch's success shows a way forward for a struggling AA narrative genre
Opinion | Dispatch is an adventure game that ditches age-old "adventure" gameplay – and it shows how similar titles could re-find their purpose

Demonschool is doing that cool thing for me that Expedition 33 also did which is borrowing from and honoring classics old and modern while completely dropping the pointless bloat and bad pieces that are kept around elsewhere because muh tradition.

Think it's also time to start acknowledging that there's a bunch of people who don't actually play the games, and their whole engagement with the medium is doing culture war bullshit with games they haven't played as a pretext

Not enjoying how I've hit that point in your 30s after which you can't have a cup of coffee without rushing to the nearest toilet right after. The warnings were true.

Checked out the demo for Star Wars Outlaws on Switch 2 and holy shit, that's a new standard for ports of extremely current-gen AAA games. I'm even tempted to buy the whole thing after all the work they put into it since I got a PC press code last year.

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea
