There's no single secret to making a successful GAAS, but I have two thoughts:
1) People are not replacing the games they are currently playing with new games, at least en masse.
2) I think your multiplayer game needs a good single-player to also take off and give people a reason to move on from 1

I think Skypiea is kind of weak but it is followed by Water 7 (at least in the manga) which is probably the best arc in the entire series.

I made many of these! Only one was rejected.
Anyway, if you're ever curious why details are different from a report to a released game, there you go. Sometimes things change, sometimes you don't have the full picture. The only surefire method is to not report it.

I am way too busy right now to play this game. I'm in the middle of a review, playing another game for impressions, and just playing DQ7 on the side. Adding something else will kill me.

Like, if you know this is a God of War game, you can see at first blush that's not Kratos. It being a young Kratos makes thinking it's Atreus make some sense. Obviously anyone working on the game would know the difference, but leaks don't always come from people working directly on something.

So for like a year people were telling me there was a God of War spinoff was a 2D Metroidvania about Atreus. Seeing Sons of Sparta, which is what I assume they were referring to, I can see how they came to that conclusion. But it's a good lesson in how these things can be a game of telephone.
