So I'm taking the plunge and ordering some PC parts over Black Friday.

If you appreciate what @startmenu.bsky.social has done over the years, like @rewinder.co.uk/my freelance work, or thought I didn't sound like an idiot on Game Mess Mornings, now would be a great time to show your appreciation.

I can finally share that I wrote a retrospective on the Tales of series for Game Informer! I chatted with some of the leads of the series at Bandai Namco about the many games, like Symphonia and Arise. I’ve been working on this piece for a few months and it’s one I’m so proud of finally sharing.
30 Years Of Tales
Bandai Namco’s anthology RPG has been growing in quality and popularity for the last three decades.

The smart brick gimmick is legit neat tech, but a lot of these sets look bad, no?

Like the scale is all shrunk because they need to use less bricks to keep the price down and now they just look like really expensive Duplo sets.

I am so curious to see how this game runs across devices.

The Switch 2 version I played at TGS felt kinda wrong it ran so well,it was like witnessing some forbidden knowledge.

So it feels like it's going to be a stark point of comparison to Monster Hunter Wilds.

Younger generations “have fallen out of love with Harry Potter because they have fallen out of love with the worldview the series represents,” writes Louise Perry. “Which is to say that young people have fallen out of love with liberalism.”

You know that story of Tommy Lee Jones telling Jim Carrey when he interrupted his dinner out, "I cannot sanction your buffoonery"?

That is how I feel about mediocre souls-likes at this point.

Code Vein II is a perfectly fine soulslike. It improves slightly in most areas from the original but it still feels quite hollow and lacking in anything you can really sink your teeth into. My review:

Why I’m launching a feminist video games website in 2026
I’ve been a games journalist since 2007, but still there isn’t much video games coverage that feels like it’s specifically for people like me. So I’m creating a home for it: Mothership

Graham Linehan proves the point that trans liberationists have been saying from the start:

If you'll permit dehumanising and stripping the rights of trans people, you will dehumanise and strip the rights of anyone on a long enough timeline.
This is exactly the same playbook Graham Linehan uses against trans people, where defending trans rights is cast as defending "rape" and "paedophilia." He uses "rape" and "paedophilia" as punchlines, and, therefore, all of his hate speech and advocation for violence against his enemies is justified.

@dark1x.bsky.social I think Corey asked on the podcast that went up today, but I remember one of the devs in this video mentioning that Sneak King was the only commercial dual system disc, and that it wasn't done by anyone else because you were basically trying to cram two games onto one disc.
