Chadwick Boseman and James van der Beek both died in their 40s of an illness that's treatable if a colonoscopy catches it but almost no insurer covers them for people under 45, this is what Engels meant by "social murder"

The Long Night (8x03) was unwatchable the night it aired. Terrible codecs, low resolution, and low bitrate.

I’ve had 3 watch parties to see it in 4k off the disc, but now that it’s streaming in 4k at a higher bitrate with better codecs it looks plenty good streaming as well

Worth a rewatch!
Idk what HBO did between then and now but the battle of winter fell watches so much better now.

"It's a competent loop of heist setup and escape execution. But even when I piloted Nomali through a flawless getaway, I found myself more interested in being able to return to the relooters' hideout to learn more about the game's 70 reclaimable artifacts and their very real histories."
Relooted is a fine heist game—but it's a better history lesson

Over 1,000 Ubisoft workers around the world have walked off the job.

In response to a return-to-office mandate, layoffs, and the cancellation of several games, workers launched a three-day strike.

The workers walked out in response to five French unions issuing the strike call.
Ubisoft workers are on strike: 'We are treated like children'
The strike comes after the publisher revealed plans to cut up to 200 jobs and ordered remote workers back into the office

There's an entire genre of post on sim game forums that are like "wait, why are my peasants revolting I'm just doing medieval reagan???" filled with quotes that are pussy hairsbreadth away from Understanding
This is gonna sound stupid but I've yet to come across a game that rewarded me for acting like Reagan, Bush, or Trump. But as soon as I start running a city or a country or whatever like Bernie Sanders I'm just winning.

If I'm poor, and i want something, i can't buy it. That company misses out on my dollar. Abstract that out across 90% of a country and so many companies are missing out on so many dollars bc people are poor and nobody with the power wants to change that despite it being in their best interest.

White women got real mad about Dany at the end of S8. Probably because they saw themselves in her and were upset at seeing the accurate way that would play out.
Meanwhile most of us with melanin and eyes went off her ass in season 5 like so:

#lrp ima invite everyone upset about dany's heel change to watch the show again. They were laying that groundwork as far back as mereen.

this was my take too when I rewatched it after a few years, not remotely as bad as the complaints at the time. even a lot of the character arcs that people (including me!) hated - dany going full targ, jaime going back to cersei, etc - made more sense

More to the point: on rewatch the whole back half of the show is much better than I remember and I think it holds up better when its watched all at once instead of waiting years between seasons.

In a battle featuring zombies, dire wolves, two grown ass dragons, and literally the greatest knights of westeros its BEAUTIFUL that the biggest heroes of the battle of winterfell are the women children and the disabled, the outcasts typically in genre fiction like this.

oh you’re doing what? pushing a boulder up a hill and every day it rolls back down again? every possible outcome is a different flavor of failure? that’s cool, I make video games

If they let Leia be in the movie more than she was, we as a culture would care far less about at least Han and possibly Luke too.
I always love the fact that Leia's literal first line is talking smack to Darth Vader.

Im pleased to report that with the rise of the Epstein files in the national consciousness, the chuds have ditched Blackrock et al and found a new boogeyman for woke games.
It would be hilarious if it wasn't so predictable.
