Thought I’d be clever and link up all my rooms in the level I’m working on before I did anything specific and dear God it’s been days and I’m still linking rooms.

Seeing the amount of basic functionality Google blocks if you turn off AI it sure is looking like it's time to find a replacement.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Made a stupidly hard quiz where you have to identify the Call of Duty game by just the face on the box alone. Having literally just made it I only scored 18 out of 22. www.gamesradar.com/games/call-o...

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:
Millionaire Tax That Inspired Mamdani Fuels $5.7 Billion Haul in Massachusetts
A millionaire levy in Massachusetts that New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani holds up as a model for taxing the rich has generated $3 billion more in revenue than expected without forcing...

Well this sucks, because I did really want to play this but AI for voice work is a top tier no.
Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.

They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

I like that Obsidian is really digging into difficult decisions and grey area wins with Avowed and Outer Worlds 2. But only for other people. My playthrough must be flawless and fail free.

Best Outer Worlds 2 experience so far: accidentally finding what was clearly the end of an undiscovered mission where everyone was all ‘we are ready to die’ and immediately slaughtered by my companions, without me having any idea what was going on. 10/10, would get everyone killed again.

Whenever I see anyone talking about LLMs like they're alive or AGI is near, I assume they either know nothing about them, or they're on a grift.
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Excellent that I now have to use a VPN to see images on a coding forum but also need to turn it off so I can search for what I need in the first place. Well done internet.

Remember seeing this EVERWHERE when it came out but never read it because I thought it was an author I didn’t like who did boring people just talking stuff. Did a double take seeing the TV Glow director was adapting it and holy shit I completely missed what this was about, so I’m going in.
