SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

I spent the last week combing through reports and speaking with analysts about where EA's studios and most well-known franchises will likely fit under its new owners - and how that massive debt will potentially influence the way EA handles them

What the EA deal could mean for BioWare, The Sims, and more
The $55 billion deal would take the publishing powerhouse private

I played a bunch of Yakuza Kiwami 3 at TGS.

RGG obviously has an impressive pipeline for producing high-quality games quickly... HOWEVER, while the new combat looks great and the Dragon Engine has never looked better, I am not sold on several creative choices.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 And Dark Ties is RGG operating like a well-oiled machine
Ryu Ga Gotoku's remake of Like A Dragon's black sheep is slick and polished, but might have lost some of the game's charm.

Happy anniversary, and congrats to you both!!!

Yeah the latter definitely makes sense. The style's even a bit Illumination but you'd think if they *were* involved, it'd be mentioned or a logo would show up

The name and the pacifier make me think it's either some Sims-like family management game (the player is moving the pacifier) OR some horrendously sad animated short about a deceased relative staying close to the family from The Beyond (a ghost is moving the pacifier)

People ran wild with it to the point where Blizzard had to run a brief video explaining the rationale, but everyone was just like well this was in an interview and wasn't NDA'd, so *shrug*

More of that please

Have encountered this a few times myself this year. But I have to shout out Triple Point and Blizzard PR for not being weird over me publishing their lead Overwatch artist saying they wanted heroes to be "aspirational" from a physical perspective, hence fewer "oddball characters" recently

Excellent piece! Pretty much my thoughts as well. I've enjoyed First Chapter well enough, but the script actively irritates me

I've wanted to break this down for a bit: Wrote about a big quirk in how Game Awards is structured that makes it tough for small games to compete at a top level. Localization matters! And it creates a tough battle for the Blue Princes and 1000xResists of the world. www.polygon.com/blue-prince-...
In the GOTY race, localization really matters — which is bad news for Blue Prince
One of the year's best games will have a tough time breaking into The Game Awards

Yeah! It's a really odd thing to throw at the player as soon as you introduce the open world, like you're going "here it is! I'm sorry"

Don't get me wrong, I think Yotei's speed boost flower pads are pretty and cool. But I think the real answer to the question "how do we move players through the open world faster" is to make it smaller with less dead space
