"OK, so no one's answering
Well, can't you just let it ring a little longer, longer, longer? Oh
I'll just sit tight, in shadows of the night
Let it ring forevermore, oh-whoa"

One of my all-time favorites that will always send a shiver of nostalgia & emotion through me.

"Telephone Line," ELO.

Oh my God...this song is soundtrack for key moments in my life.

It started with such promise and then the #Tigers couldn't do anything right despite having the best starter in baseball. Frustrating to see the hitters collapse game after game.

When the #Tigers had to use Kahnle, that was waving the white flag. Good luck, Mariners.

That's the brutal bottom line. Nobody in the heart of the order showed up in the most important game of the season. Maybe Harris needs to re-evaluate why he didn't find a veteran middle of the lineup bat at the deadline because the #Tigers sorely lacked offense after the ASG.

Greene strike out.
Torkelson strike out.
Keith strike out.

That's the heart of the order. Now 0-for-16 in this game.

Seven baserunners in three innings and the #Tigers cannot get anything close to a clutch hit. Killing me.
maumann.bsky.social
I'm actually talking more about consistently hitting but your point stands.
maumann.bsky.social
The #Tigers have to get a 3B for 2026. No question about it. That position is killing them.
maumann.bsky.social
Torres 0-3, Greene 0-4, Torkelson 0-4, Keith 0-3, McKinstry 0-4, Dingler 0-4, Meadows 0-4. Not ideal. We move to the 10th with a rookie pitcher who started the season in AA ball. #Tigers

FREE BASEBALL. Postseason version.

Both teams have two runs and four hits after seven innings. About as dead even as possible. Nail biting time in Seattle. Loser has four months to think about what could have been.

For us old folks, this has a distinct Game 5 1972 ALCS feel to it. #Tigers kept the A's in check but couldn't get anything going against Odom and Blue.
maumann.bsky.social
Here the #Tigers are, wasting another incredible Skubal start. Tip your hat to Kirby but the offense is non-existent.

My best friend still answers the phone when I call with "Dave's not here, man!" #AT40

(It was a slim window, so, for those before or after those of us who were in Jr. High or High School '72 - '74, Cheech and Chong were HUGE. Everybody listened to their records and roared with laughter over their "outrageous" bits.) #AT40

I took Guitar my freshman year of high school, starting that September. I still remember the teacher's name: Steve Neft. He would transpose hit songs for us to play. Lots of stuff from these great albums.

With a late September birthday, the Wish Books came out too late for me to get the latest and greatest new stuff. That would have to wait for Christmas. #AT40

Sept. 29, 1973 and only one thing consumes my 3rd grade brain: the arrival of the Sears’ and Penney’s Christmas Wishbook catalogues. Still can’t listen to Heartbeat It’s a Lovebeat without seeing electric trains and GIJoes so close and yet still so very far away. The Bic pen circling continues #AT40

The 2006 #Tigers blew the division title in the final week of the regular season but beat the Yankees and A's to reach the World Series. Perhaps history will repeat itself. Hopefully with a better result.

Divisional title; schmivision title!

EXHALE. Since I was exposed to them in 1965, the #Tigers have been brief flashes of brilliance interspersed with long periods of terribleness or flat-out mediocrity. And sometimes from one pitch to the next. But they somehow won't do things easily. Stupid silly wonderful baseball.
maumann.bsky.social
HEART ATTACK, #Tigers. Pitcher's fielding practice, please! At least he had the presence of mind to make a perfect throw to second. But that's two big runs that should never have scored.
maumann.bsky.social
Tommy Kahnle is going to be the death of me. And here we are in the eighth inning, which is the #Tigers implosion inning.
maumann.bsky.social
Tough pitches. But McKinstry has been ice cold anyway. And then Javy does Javy. Boy, you can never have enough insurance runs.

If MLB isn't going to sell the commercial time, just let the local ads run. The same three or four house promos have been running since March. It's embarrassing, especially since we PAY to listen to the local broadcast.
