Independent film producer & rock 'n' roller. Living in Wilmington, NC, but my heart stays in Pittsburgh (with a slice set aside for sweet home Chicago.)
I suspected as much. I'd asked the question facetiously! 😉 #AT40
#at40 No. They had a number 1 hit with do that to be one more time in 1978.
Was "Muskrat Love" Captain & Tennille's last hit? Because, in a just world, this should have been career-ending. #AT40

"Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald" is from late 1976? Fascinating. It sure sounds like 1974. #AT40

The legend has it that "Beth" was the B-side of Kiss' "Detroit Rock City" single, and it was DJ's who started to play the flip side (back when actual human beings on the radio had that freedom!) "Beth," of all Kiss songs, went on to be their biggest seller ever. #AT40

Favorite Steve Miller story: teenage Steve approaching a band at a show, looking for a gig. While the band was setting up on stage (or between songs,) Steve flatly told the presumed leader "I'm a better guitarist than anyone in the band - and that includes you." I believe they took him in! #AT40

Little did Casey know people would STILL be gathering all over the world to listen to and share #AT40 many years after he'd left us!

There are actually a couple of rockers on this one, but, even though I was a long-time fan, between Alice breaking up the original band, opting for a Hollywood-friendly personae, and putting out these schmaltzy singles, I just gave up on him (for a time.) "I Never Cry" Nov. '76 on #AT40

Looks like we're going to have to travel to Canada to see any of the 2026 Guess Who shows with Burton Cummings & Randy Bachman. Serves us right. (Burton's soaring "Stand Tall" Nov. '76 on #AT40)

Oh, #AT40 listeners of the days in fall '76, don't you worry about ABBA's "Fernando" falling down in the chart. There's something else from them coming very soon. It'll be... BIG.

L.T.D. to studio assistant: "Hey, that master we had marked as a "love ballad." You remembered to write the real name of the song on the box before you sent it to the record company, right? Right?? WAIT, WHAT???" #AT40

OK, once in a while, I DO learn something new from Casey. I'm truly surprised Chicago had to wait until "If You Leave Me Now" in 1976 to reach #1 on #AT40. (That's right up there with the still jaw-dropping chart history for Creedence - who NEVER got to #1.)

Kinda funny. Blue Oyster Cult was originally considered a dark, dangerous band when they appeared a few years earlier. By '76, not so much - despite the name of this song. ("Don't Fear The Reaper" Nov. '76 on #AT40)

My 1976 college roommate (& dear friend to this day) gave me Electric Light Orchestra's "A New World Record" for Christmas that year. A thoughtful gesture almost 50 years ago still brings a smile to my face! #AT40

Eric Clapton's "struggles" with fame and drugs. No sympathy here. #AT40

I LOVE this Bay City Rollers version of "I Only Wanna Be With You!" Three or so minutes of joyous, drum-pounding, guitar changling enthusiasm. I need songs like this. WE need songs like this!! #AT40

Kinda early in the show for an "Extra." Casey & co. must have put this fall '76 show together and realized, "Oh, MAN, we are REALLY short this week." (Where are the long hits like "Bohemian Rhapsody" or "American Pie" when you need them, right Casey?) #AT40

Blissful lack of any memory for John Travolta's follow-up to "Let Her In" from fall '76 on #AT40.

The Trump cabal are clinking glasses tonight in The White House, as, after months of their provoking violence across America, the inevitable happened and 2 young WV Guardsmen were shot. Now they have "justification" to ramp up their illegal military occupations. This was always the plan.

Capitol Records, for the millionth time, instead of scraping the barrel to justify an "Anthology 4" money-grab, would you PLEASE get off your corporate asses and release the much-deserved deluxe box set for "Ringo" - the most joyous post-Beatles Beatles album of all time??! #AT40

A&M records: "Billy, can you do another song just like last year's "Outa Space?" Billy: "Yes." Billy Preston's "Space Race" fall '73 on #AT40

The Rolling Stones' "Goats Head Soup" had the misfortune to be the album that followed "Exile On Main Street." As such, reviews were mixed. Perhaps because '73 is smack-dab my sweet spot, it's my fave Stones album. "Angie," "Heartbreaker," Silver Train," "Star Star"... just great stuff. #AT40

I got some devastating news this week from my close circle of college friends. Visiting November '73 with Casey & you all has put a much needed smile on my face. Tell the people you love that you love them. Right now. #AT40

Hearing Casey mention "Why Me, Lord" starting at #100 on Billboard made me curious about who's at 90-100 on today's November '73 chart. David Essex's "Rock On" rose to 91, while Uriah Heep's "Stealin'" is at 98 - having peaked at 91 😟 #AT40

"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" is THE song from fall '73. Eternal thanks to Elton, Bernie, Davey, Dee, Nigel & producer Gus. #AT40
