“Sometimes life itself is meaning enough.”

What the actual fuck? “Columbus’s journey carried thousands of years of wisdom, philosophy, reason, and culture across the Atlantic into the Americas — paving the way for the ultimate triumph of Western civilization less than three centuries later on July 4, 1776.”

An interesting way to talk about exploitation: “Though he initially believed he had arrived in Asia, his discovery opened the vast frontier and untold splendors of the New World to Europe.”

I am honestly surprised that Trump’s Columbus proclamation didn’t perpetuate the false claim that Columbus was trying to prove the world was round.

The proclamation only vaguely mentions indigenous peoples once and implies that things went great for them.

It is also interesting that they want to talk about men having control over what happens to their bodies, which is implied in these comments, but not women.

This year just gets weirder and weirder…

People who intentionally move from Portland, Oregon to rural southeast Alabama or southwest Georgia are really really weird. They are MAGA batshit crazy weird. Like don’t come here. Go Idaho or better yet Russia or even better Mars.

I really want to know the context of what he was saying but I don’t think they have released the transcripts.

Either way he’s a damn fool for thinking he will be immune just because he has a lot of money.

I guess I work for the Antichrist now. I hope the pay is good.

Peter Thiel recently warned that Greta Thunberg and critics of technology or artificial intelligence are “legionnaires of the Antichrist” in private lectures on Christianity that connected government oversight of Silicon Valley to an apocalyptic future...

Who else panics when they walk in the room to check on their geriatric dog and at first it looks like he’s not breathing and then he doesn’t respond to you calling his name? I just did, but he’s fine. I woke him up from a deep sleep. Sorry pup.

They must have extra tiny brains then.

Granted Châtelet was part of her title, and apparently Chatelet has already been established on Discovery and SNW, so in my head canon it’s named after Émilie du Châtelet.

I hope the U.S.S. Chatelet in Mack’s SNW novel Ring of Fire is named after Émilie du Châtelet.

I love this movie too. It is very much a Trek movie with a message that has aged well.

Captain Picard to Admiral Dougherty: "How many people does it take, Admiral, before it becomes wrong? Hmm? A thousand? Fifty thousand? A million? How many people does it take, Admiral?!"

Also I can understand watching a Trek series casually. But Trek novels, especially the Post-Nemesis continuity? You decided to read all those, and you still don’t get Star Trek? Really?

Recently finished reading William Leisner’s TNG novel Losing the Peace. Excellent novel with a message about refugee crises. I took a gander at Goodreads reviews, and as I expected, people are stupid. One review starts out, “I hate when Star Trek gets preachy.” Well I guess you hate Star Trek.

Neither man has a medical degree. This is just batshit crazy.
