In the fall of 2009 I stitched a soft-sculpture of wool, cotton, & wire. I wrote a little story about Baba Yaga in the morning feeding her Shacklings.

After 16 years it's still one of my favorite pieces.
I'm delighted to be finally, slowly, finishing this story:

My new book is full of notes from the Gardener ~ a witch who wanders the northern forests in a hut of her own. Every 17 years she raises a new brood of tiny huts, and keeps an eye on them until the other witches come to adopt.
