I'm always nervous about art markets and craft fairs these days, worried that they will be full of AI slop. So when I find one full of hand made mugs and whittled wood ornaments and illustrated butterfly garlands I get so excited and spend....a loooot of money 🫠
But we have to support real artists!

I've been taking this great art class from @yumingart.bsky.social that goes over so many fantastic composition concepts including the idea of "checkerboarding" or placing light shapes on a dark bg and vice versa. And I can't stop noticing examples of it now including this gorgeous sky of clouds!

Yeaahhh I think we're all biased towards thinking the art we grew up with was the best, but I am at least very grateful that publishing seems to have given up on the stock photo phase of the 2000s
Because tell me which of these you were more likely to open as a kid??

Sighhh I really love teaching but I do NOT miss commuting to universities. I think my dream job would be teaching/mentoring online from an illustrator-art director perspective.
I'm really inspired by people like @chuwenjie.bsky.social who run their own very successful classes!
