The Great derangement syndrome:

I find it bleak that ChatGPT now has more users than Wikipedia. Many people would rather be spoon-fed information by a machine than read and research for themselves. Tech isn't just making us dumber. Worse than that: it's killing curiosity itself and the desire to learn.

This video is everywhere because it's a hilarious visual refutation of Portland being on fire. You can't get a mass movement going without convincing the masses

so yes, this does do something actually

This literally does nothing. You are not beating fascism by dressing up in inflatable suits and dancing

Portland is leading the way. This is how you (non violently) beat Fascism. Humor and ridicule are key.

This is how you foster a perfectly valid form of mistrust for modern medicine.
I would absolutely be doing whatever I could to forage my own medicines in this type of situation.
What an fucked up world we live in.

One curious thing on this site about speaking out against the encroachment of LLMs is that inevitably you get accused of being anti-tech. I don’t hate technology. I’ve used machine learning in my own code before. But I also recognize that oligarchs are so hellbent on pushing this tech for a reason.

I don’t know who Mr. Nichols hangs around with, but people have absolutely been erasing their social media accounts and keeping their heads down. Green card and visa holders in the US already have plenty of evidence that their social media presence is being monitored and used by the administration.
Tom Nichols post reads:

If we were living under fascism, none of you would be here daring to post things. You'd be erasing your social media accounts and keeping your head down; you'd know that peacocking your faux-bravery on a network would expose you to being disappeared.
You have no idea what "fascism" really means

If you’re apprehensive that what you say or do now could come to haunt you in a more authoritarian environment in the future then this is your absolute cue that you absolutely must say or do something now.

Fascism creeps in, through silence, through apathy, through “it can’t happen here”

History teaches us one thing clearly: when fascism arises, you don’t debate it,
You fight it.
Every time.
Everywhere.

And once it's taken hold, fascism has only ever been defeated by force.
A vintage-style propaganda poster in red and white. It shows a figure in a cap, mid-stride, holding a Molotov cocktail in one hand and what looks like a rifle slung over their shoulder. Bold red text reads: “FIGHT FASCISM” at the top and “WHEREVER IT ARISES!” at the bottom.

Not defending them, just my first thought.
