RFK fired the CDC official (w/decades of experience) leading the measles outbreak response. It's been decades since we've had such a large outbreak. And just to ensure they they can spread the measles outbreak even farther, they also fired the leadership for the center focused on immunization.
Figure showing the largest measles outbreak in the US in decades. There are over 1500 cases as of October 7 2025

Yes yes, Annie Hall, Love and Death, Godfather, Reds - but Keaton also saved some true turkeys later in her career. The Family Stone is maybe the worst of all bad Christmas films and yet her presence makes it utterly watchable

"She is the dream actress that every director should have." —Gillian Armstrong

Rest in peace to the great Diane Keaton, fearless and unique, a dream actress indeed. 📷 Norman Seeff, Los Angeles, 1975
Black and white shot of Diane Keaton in a tank top with her hands behind her head. I like this photo for its simplicity; you can feel her personality.

Farewell to one cinema's greatest legends Can’t believe we’ve lost her. Such a shock. Rest in peace Diane Keaton. “La-dee-da, la-dee-da” forever.

The great actress Diane Keaton has left us at the age of 79. Too soon to say good-bye to the woman who made us smile at the quirky Annie Hall, and who broke our hearts in Reds. Your charm and talent will be sorely missed.

Most of Dem Senators did not attack Bondi yesterday as they should have. Among other things they should have said, "You're lying again, Ms. Bondi" and "That's a bald-faced lie, Ms. Bondi."

The rapid rise of authoritarianism is no place for etiquette.

I was in hospital for 75 days out of my last 6 month billing. Consumption was down from. 37.5m3 to 17.3m3, 45%. My bill was down 5%, by £8. They'd raised prices by 40% in 6 months. OFWAT think that's not nearly enough

A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.

Trump: "The person who actually got the Nobel Prize called today, called me, and said 'I'm accepting this in honor of you, because you really deserved it.' A really nice thing to do. I didn't say 'Then give it to me, though.'"

Blaise Ingoglia, DeSantis’ handpicked CFO, was asked about the postcard and if his DFS officers should have treated it as a threat. He said he never saw it but then said “I’m sure that’s not the only thing” when a reporter told him what it said.

Ingoglia also has ties to Susie Wiles.

Pretty sure Fraser Nelson is just making this up?

I'm sure that some people on UC (health) have serious alcohol/drug problems, but don't think "alcoholism is an accepted reason" to pass the WCA

. Alcoholism is one of the accepted reasons: money is issued with no help offered. Unsurprisingly, alcohol-related deaths have surged to an all-time high of 10,500 a year. My friend, now, amongst them. Signing alcoholics on to welfare without help is a crisis which, last week, felt all the more vivid.

Hang on, do you mean Farage or Johnson? Though the charlatan list is long, yet filled with empty

I still find it hard to believe that a party which has dominated British politics for centuries is dying. And the most extraordinary thing is that one charlatan, who has never held significant power nor any kind of vision, is destroying it.
