Can't remember if I've posted this, but one of the first times I visited the town in which I now live this was tied with a ribbon to the bridge from the train station.

I still find comfort in reading it occasionally. A beautiful sentiment from a stranger who'll never know how much it meant to me.
Note tied with a ribbon to a railing on a bridge over a road. It reads:

For what it's worth it's never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life your proud of and if you find that your not, I hope you have the strength to start over.

At least he didn't try for a high five this time.

And nothing of value was lost.

My only sympathies lie with the medics whose professionalism meant they had to try and save him.

It's hard not to appreciate the wholehearted support that people like Mamdani give the trans community

In a time where far too many consider it politically expedient to dismiss or disregard us, this really helps me believe that things can get better and that however dark it is now, dawn will come.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

More headlines should end with those six words.

The opposing view to trans people is the view of the leadership of the country.

The laws, legal guidance, healthcare access, prison designation, toilet access are all currently dictated by "the opposing pov"

Playing devil's advocate is bringing less than nothing to the conversation.
michellestringer.bsky.social
This is a case in the UK. This might surprise you but your local laws don't apply.
michellestringer.bsky.social
It's best practice, but isn't legally necessary to get consent and failure doesn't vitiate consent.

Also, you're wading into a discussion among queer people on an issue affecting queer people to inform us that homophobia is real.

We're painfully aware.
michellestringer.bsky.social
It is also possible that this will legalise 'trans panic' as a defence if an otherwise consensual encounter becomes sexual assault once it includes a trans person.

We have already seen a trans girl stabbed repeatedly following a failure to disclose being trans.
michellestringer.bsky.social
Part of the problem is how broadly this can be interpreted. As it is, two people could meet in a club and kiss.

If one of them is trans, a crime has been commited.

This is opening a door to accusations of sexual assault by trans people, for the crime of being trans.
michellestringer.bsky.social
Add to this that trans people are almost certain to be placed in the prison of their assigned sex means they're likelier to be victimised during their time in prison.

Ciara Watkins has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for the crime of having consensual sex while being trans.

To my knowledge there are zero other "deceptions" that undo consent.

You can lie about your name, your wealth, your job, your criminal history, your STDs, your marital status, your sexual history and it doesn't undo consent.

Fail to disclose being trans, and the consent is void.

Green Party Conference recently passed some amazing healthcare policy for the trans community. It commits us to an informed consent model of trans healthcare, a trans-led public inquiry into NHS care, a trans-inclusive ban on conversion therapy, and so much more.
The Green Party just voted to reform trans healthcare.

What does this bold new policy look like?

Promoted by LGBTIQA+ Greens (Green Party), c/o PO Box 78066, London SE16 9GQ What we're calling for:
- The end of segregation in trans healthcare.
- Ending the torture of conversion therapy.
- Moving the NHS to an informed consent model.
- Expanding the range of funded transition care.
- Access to affirming healthcare for trans youth.
- NHS support for people who seld-medicate or use private care.
- Real support for detransitioning people.

Promoted by LGBTIQA+ Greens (Green Party), c/o PO Box 78066, London SE16 9GQ How we get there:
- Closing the existing Gender Identity Clinics and supporting GPs with training and funding to care for trans people.
- Lifting the politically motivated ban on 'puberty blockers'.
- Starting a government funded, trans-led, inquiry into past NHS treatment of trans people.
- Including & prioritising trans expertise in independent care reviews.
- Passing a trans-inclusive ban on 'conversion therapy'.

Promoted by LGBTIQA+ Greens (Green Party), c/o PO Box 78066, London SE16 9GQ We don't have to accept the status quo.

Trans greens logo in the middle with the text "Trans Greens" with "Greens for Trans Liberation" underneath.

Why not read the full policy? Link in the next post.

Even in an interview in which you defend incest, something has gone horribly wrong if you need to clarify that you believe in an age of consent.

www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/showbiz...
Wrapping up the conversation, Charles asserted: "Let me make one thing clear, I believe in an age of content. Andrew asked, Where? What age? ".

To which Charlie responded, "I'm not getting into that. I'd write about that in an academic journal article." Miriam rounded off the discussion with, "Very interesting there, Charles. Thank you for sharing your point of view with us."

The third had the good sense to try and hide his face at least.

At least I remembered it as a panel. I felt sure there was a video.

Here's an NYT article about it though.

Yeah, there was a panel somewhere where she's in tears recalling it and some of the other cast members are quite dismissive.

It cannot be made clearer.

If you continue to support the Harry Potter franchise in any way, you are directly funding the removal of trans people's human rights in the UK.

papers like the New York Times actively help right wing propagandists by introducing false claims as something that's open to debate and interpretation, instead of clearly framing them up front as lies pushed by unreliable operators

Guardian journalist Matthew Cassel visited Tel Aviv - known as Israel's liberal capital - to ask people what they think of the suffering in Gaza. It's truly depressing. Even at an anti-war march. It just proves that propaganda really does work. Kudos to the guy at the end.

It's the same with the headlines about NHS Fife's legal bills.

"Why are they spending so much public money preventing the damage we're trying to do?"
