Please share with Pharmacy colleagues. It was a pleasure to be part of the project team for this new e-learning for autism and ADHD. Neurodivergent people are regular users of pharmacy services and value the support of pharmacy staff. Our profession can make a difference @clairewynn.bsky.social

Staggering statistics re young carers and young adults carers presented, in our latest position statement. For example, 69% of schools report zero young carers in their cohorts, though it is reported that 2 pupils/classroom provide high or very high levels of care.

People aged 16-34 with a mental health condition are almost 5 times more likely to be economically inactive than others. Nearly a quarter of all people out of work due to ill health are under 35. Time to take action to #BreaktheCycle #YoungPeople #MentalHealth #Unemployment

Almost 1m young people are not in work or education. We've heard directly that this is both a cause and consequence of poor mental health.

Today we launch a pioneering programme to break the cycle of poor mental health & unemployment for young people.

🗣️ "We exist in struggle, but we could do with less of a fight".

This #TransDayofVisibility, read Jay's account of the toll that transphobia takes on their mental health, and how they navigate accessing mental health support: www.centreformentalhealth.org.uk/in-flux-betw...
An image of a person holding up a banner which reads: Trans folx are not a threat, transphobia is!. Overlaid text: In flux between identities: the mental health impacts of transphobia. By Jay "I think a lot about what it’s like for those of us who have parts of our identities become ‘hot topics’; when our existence, lives, and experiences are contested. It’s hard enough trying to cope in this world and figure ourselves out, whether we’re trans or not. I just want to live my life, instead of feeling like I’m dodging transphobic bullets from the media, the government, and the world."

The more you believe in the kindness of others, or in other words, are socially trusting, the higher your individual well-being and the higher collective well-being. Why countries with less social inequality are happier.

The benefits for our hearts of up to 4 morning cups of coffee. #coffee #mortality #heart

Lots of us love the Minerva section in the @bmj.com, especially when she tells us to do more of something we love…. like drinking coffee!

Here’s the research article. The recommended dose is four cups, to be taken in the morning.

Morning coffee
For years, Minerva has started the day with a pot of tea. A report from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999-2018 makes her wonder if she should switch to coffee (Eur Heart J doi. org/ 10.1093/eurheartj/ehae871).
Among 40000 participants, those who drank coffee in the morning had substantially lower all cause and cardiovascular mortality rates compared with non-coffee drinkers.
Surprisingly, drinking coffee later in the day had no health benefits.

Thank you to Call the Midwife for a lovely big dose of oxytocin last night. I remember my mum's midwife, who became a family friend after delivering 2 of my siblings. Special memories.

Interesting to learn the collective name for some of my favourite birds: a tidings of long-tailed tits. Not surprised to discover it describes their lively, joyful, social behaviour. Grateful that mindfulness practice enabled me to escape my busy mind to notice and enjoy them.
