To my delight, we've receive requests for signed prints from a couple of the images from my "Stuff I Did in the '80s" series. I've spruced them up a bit and will post a link to order in the coming weeks.🎨

I've heard so much about this. I want to watch it but I'm not subscribing to D+ just for this.

Found this on the AO3 subreddit, and I'm about to let it change my whole life (or at least work really hard to internalize it wrt my writing).
Someone's screenshot of a two-post twitter thread, from user blue (@bluewmist):

the fastest way to kill motivation is to make your identity depend on the outcome. it's called ego involvement. when failing becomes failing as a person, your brain starts avoiding the whole thing. not because you don't care, but because you care too much.

you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.

the wall and see what sticks, don't be afraid to go through multiple versions or drafts, that's what they're there for. Don't be afraid to suck, not at first. You can always make it better, but it has to exist first.
mistervaliant.bsky.social
it's taken off on its own and you're not quite sure how you got here or how to stop it. I recently heard some good advice on this, in that sometimes we bind too much of ourselves or our self-worth into our works. If the work is bad we feel like WE are bad. Don't be afraid to just throw stuff at
mistervaliant.bsky.social
No, not at all, I know plenty of people that are the same way. We're trying too hard to make the "main" thing we're working on good. If it's not that? Eh, whatever, who cares, so you're a lot less afraid to screw anything up. You toss whatever into it but it kinda works and before you know it
mistervaliant.bsky.social
Oh sure, it happens all the time. For me I think it's a matter of trying too hard in one thing. If I'm trying to make a fantasy thing happen too hard, I'll toss out some stuff into a space opera or a supernatural monster hunt and suddenly it's amazing.

Yeah but the word "first" is pulling a LOT of weight in this sentence

This Tumblr user summarizes something I've been feeling/doing lately. Against everything going on, it somehow feels helpful.
User homoquartz writes: as long as you smile and nod, people are satisfied. it’s just to show that you are nice and there with good intentions. we’re small in a big world and have to rely on other people to be decent to us. so we do our little human dance to each other to say, “i’m not here to hurt you. here’s something we have in common, like the weather or sports or itchy sweaters, so we both know we’re on the same team. we both agree on a basic fact, like that it is rainy or that being itchy is uncomfortable, and this proves we can get along. i’m being light-hearted and non-threatening right now."
Small talk isn't to get to know a person. It's just a greeting to affirm you're buddies in the universe. I am motivated by wanting the other person to know I am friendly, so I have gotten pretty decent at small tall when I used to hate it.

I'm so sorry. I'm glad you have someone you can lean on. Let me know if you need someone to talk to.

Ended up with a Legacy Breakdown and Motormaster I don't have need for and want to move on.

Based on looking at eBay I'm Thinking £80 posted in the UK for Breakdown and £60 for Motormaster?
But I'm open to offers.

Reposts appreciated
