I'm neither a Television nor classical expert, but I do love a puzzle!
Still one of the best Halloween-related tweets to ever exist:

The non-MCU X-Men series is just about the only superhero franchise I actually like, so of course they wanna fuck with it now. Grrr
Well fuck.
I was just listening to 'Black Messiah' for the first time in a while and it's truly wild that D'Angelo has released 3 albums in 30 years and he continually stays in the conversation.
Isn't Anything disappeared a few months back in the same way, so it's not unprecedented. There was never a statement about why, though.
is Kevin just remastering it again or what. i’m in hell btw
TIL that some people nowadays don't understand the difference between "film scores" and "movie soundtracks" (thx Music League!) and this is probably because mall cd stores don't exist anymore where film scores had their own dedicated section in the back by jazz and classical.
Werckmeister Harmonies is in my watchlist so I may have to expedite my viewing just to see what makes it so hated.
Introduce yourself using only one food you refuse to eat, one movie you’ll never watch again, and one song you can’t stand:

Hard-boiled eggs and their evil twin deviled eggs.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World - this plays on a loop in hell.

American Pie by Don McLean - absolutely 1000% nope.
“Introduce yourself using only one food you refuse to eat, one movie you’ll never watch again, and one song you can’t stand”

Rice pudding - turned stomach since childhood

Forrest Gump - as an American History MA it makes my brain puke

Breakfast At Tiffany's by Deep Blue Something, obviously!
“Introduce yourself using only one food you refuse to eat, one movie you’ll never watch again, and one song you can’t stand”

Red meat - work experience in a food tech lab taking swabs in an abattoir put pay to that.

Top Gun - Honestly, Tom Cruise gives me the ick.

Mr Brightside - Shouty mindpiss.
He did Springsteen at Springsteen's house a number of years ago.

Marc's music white whale was Bob Dylan.
He's one of my guys.
Sure, he'll still be taking acting jobs, maybe even directing something. I'm sure there will be more standup as well. But that constant presence is coming to a close. I'm gonna miss it a whole lot.
In mere hours the final episode of @marcmaron.bsky.social's WTF will drop. I don't know who the guest will be or what form it will take, but thru dozens of Conan appearances, several comedy cds, a stint on Air America, and 16 years of two podcasts a week, he's been a fixture in my life for decades!
I was not immune to the hype in a post-Batman "everything old is new again" world, though. See: the worst photo taken of me in high school (and possibly ever)...
Posed photo of teenage boy with bad hair, bad complexion, wearing a Dick Tracey logo t-shirt bought at Spencer Gifts, heavily bleached jeans, woven bracelets, and the most normie Swatch watch in the world (white face with black housing and band).
Batman the year before did a lot of the heavy lifting.
watching the warren beatty DICK TRACEY movie and it is insane? legitimately wild to me that it was a hit?

New Jack City (1991) ★★★½
Portishead: Roseland New York (1998) ★★★★

After all these years on god's green internet, I finally have the proper context for that Wesley Snipes GIF.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Competent on trombone. Trumpet is very skronky.
I have a neighbor who likes to practice their instruments very loudly in their yard on the weekends. Some days it's a trombone, other days it's a trumpet.

Today it's a trumpet. tbh I prefer the trombone, I think.
I never got in the habit of seeing HBO shows because most of my life I've never had a subscription. I did see Six Feet Under and a lot of The Sopranos when a roommate was footing the bill lol
Ooh this would've been my answer until a few years ago! What I learned is that it probably works better if you see it when you're 11 and then remember it for the rest of your life than seeing it for the first time in your 40s.
Definitely don't start now. They aren't what they used to be.
