Ninatat wear blindingly white robes and have pale skin and white hair. Durandios' holy robes and cloak are also white, though he mostly refuses to wear them. (His favorite thing to wear when no one is going to see him is jeans--even though they don't exist yet.)
It's difficult to make me cry, but ONE DAY by David Nicholls did it. (Don't bother with the movies, just read the book.)

I had a book called "Thorn Rose" that had the most beautiful, detailed illustrations by Errol Le Cain. I would sit for hours and look at them. (The image below is the cover art for that book.)

I'm pretty old-fashioned in that I mostly use notebooks, though I have recently switched to creating my "bibles" in Google docs. (These are docs that have all the info for the books or series I'm writing so I can go check things like eye color, etc.)

Purple is the color of the stripe and sashes on the robes of scribes and writers who have been educated in the temple.
I actually did encounter a certain author at a practically empty Borders in Boston once. I did a double take, and he sort of grimaced, so I just waved and let him be. That's probably what I'd do in any case, really. No matter how much I'd love to talk to them.

I discovered Zilpha Keatley Snyder in the library, and the first book I read by her was THE VELVET ROOM, which is also wonderful. THE TRUTH ABOUT STONE HOLLOW, THE EGYPT GAME... so many wonderful books by her. But this one was my favorite.

I just finished "Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents" and have started "Slow Horses." Next, I've promised my YouTube subscribers I'll read "Heaven Official's Blessing" Vol 5, and I also want to finish my re-read of "The Iliad."

Hi, I’m God.

Jesus and I agree that starving the poor so you can build yourself golden bathrooms and golden ballrooms is evil. Anyone who does that shall burn for eternity. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Thanks,

God

Green is a sacred color in AElit because it is considered the color of life and therefore a symbol of Durandios. Traditionally, Durandios' eyes are green, and anyone with green eyes is considered blessed.
Every summer, I would pick a subject and read every book I could find about it. I'd fill notebooks w/ information then write myself a summary essay at the end of summer. Yes, this was my idea of fun. 😅 My favorite nonfic book, tho, was STRANGE STORIES AND AMAZING FACTS. Still have it.

For Changers, I was definitely inspired in part by Lois Lowry's "The Giver." But, broadly, I've been inspired by many authors: Stephen King, John Le Carré, Jane Austen, Anne Rice, CLAMP... And the many stage, TV and film writers whose work I've loved.

Not sure. My guess is, I'm about a quarter to a third of the way done. At the same time, I don't typically write very long drafts... But this story has three POVs, which means it might be a little longer than my usual?
I'm about 120 pages into my draft. But with as busy as I expect to be the next couple months, I'll be lucky to finish it before the new year. Much more likely to be Jan/Feb.

#WeeknightWriters #FirstDraftFall Happy November, everyone! Will you be starting your new draft today? Have you already started? Do you need a couple more days to finish planning?
Again, Zilpha Keatley Snyder. I really related to her stories and characters. They mirrored my inner feelings and fed my imaginative childhood. And there was always a somewhat suspenseful or magical element that intrigued me. She created places and people I wanted to revisit.

Blue? The color associated with Apeiron, the ninata associated with abundance and plenty but also with flooding (as in, an abundance of water).

A lighter shade of blue is often used in iconography of Arista, the god Durandios' chief ninata.
THE CHANGELING by Zilpha Keatley Snyder was a huge influence on me. I felt like that book perfectly captured my friendship w/ my best friend. Like the girls in the book, we made up elaborate, inventive games that felt touched by real magic. Now I infuse my books w/ magical realism. #Bookvember
