and if you have an MT32, Dune II has *excellent* support for it, including some sound effects!
Westwood tended to support Roland MIDI hardware pretty well.

There's a new issue of Retro Gamer (UK-version) - and inside is a short, but sweet about M2's fantastic arcade-shooter SenXin Aleste. I´ve played the game every time I traveled to Japan and also talked to creators Naoki Horii, Daisuke Koizumi and Tatsuhiko Kasuga. I think it turned out quite nice!

I have to admit that I'm now a big fan of Metroid - Zero Mission Romhacks. It started with Super Metroid, but the MZM versions are sometimes even better, also in terms of controls and level design. Metroid - Desolation is another very good hack! #metroid #classicgaming

The PlayStation-version of Konami's Tokimeki Memorial was released 30 years ago today - and one can certainly argue that it was this version, that made the game a real phenomenon. It's a shame Konami still hasn't offered a localized Version of this highly influential classic.

Nobuo Uematsu says the Final Fantasy main theme reached its ultimate form by Final Fantasy VIII

Up until then he had been working on parts of the main theme bit by bit with each release. He says by FF8 it reached a form he could call complete!

Another random song, because I was collecting some music for a new playlist: Apotheosis by Austin Wintory for the Journey soundtrack. When I think about games as a form of art, and I don't think that every game is art, then I think about Journey and also Abzû. Play Journey, if you haven't yet!
