There is a branch in Des Moines and one in Iowa City. Too much deferred maintenance in Iowa City, so they decided they couldn't afford it. Ethically they are supposed to evaluate the collection, but they're rushing into it. SIGN HERE:

Absolutely devastating, instead of meeting the reasonable demands of the faculty the board voted to dissolve. As an alumni, EMF was an incredible learning experience and such a shame that young musicians won’t be able to have the same opportunity

Today is the day they start to dismantle the State Historical Society of Iowa in Iowa City—the library that jumpstarted my forthcoming book—despite a petition with 7K signatures on it. There is yellow tape around it and 2 sheriffs standing behind it—because what is happening is a crime.

Document the violence & violations--on camera, w/photos, saving images--any way you can. Speaking as a historian- it will matter

Point out violations--w/images & text--even if you think it won't matter. It will. It needs to be called out & exposed

It appears that my employer, Dartmouth, one of the Trump 9, has said no to the compact. All the better given that our president is cited within it. But she’s saying no. Count the small victories when they come.

Today's historic find. 1908. San Diego. Amphion audiences are requested to wait until the last note finishes to begin clapping, as often the last note is most exquisite.

THAT CLAPPING. The Sun has been requested by the directors of the Amphion...request that the clapping that is always started before the last note of a number is finished, be reserved until the artist stops playing. Often times the last note is the most exquisite, and to spoil it with a burst of applause, although the applause means enthusiasm, is very annoying to the artist and to sensitive listeners.
