(A) stop feeling pressure to be perfect;
(B) normalize asking questions, because that is normalizing learning;
(C) do not ask AI if your turkey is done; ask a meat thermometer
This is so soulless, I can't stand it. We have BRAINS. We can USE THEM.

It's never too late to learn something new.
It's never too late to read dusty books of dark magic.
It's never too late to weave a cloak of moss, feathers, and thorns and become the horror that haunts the forest north of town.

I just had an entirely agreeable and successful interaction with Gonetspeed fiber optic internet. Lovely installer. Noticeably faster and will eventually be cheaper (I have to break up with the old one).

To hell with 'professional,' gatekeeping, lowest form of pond scums.
I once had a client tell my boss I was unprofessional for wearing sneakers to their office & changing into my dress shoes in their lobby.

It was snowing & they didnt bother plowing their parking lot. I imagine they'd have preferred a lawsuit if I slipped in their icy parking lot instead.
A reader asked our fashion critic: "I am seeing all kinds of puffer jackets these days, but can they ever really be professional?" nyti.ms/4rdr7Zb

It's an easy commitment to make. One, it supports individual humans with money. Two, the work is better because there's an actual brain behind it that understands the context of the thing it's working on. Three, me making it a contract point makes it easier for other authors/writers to do the same.
I’m truly delighted to hear that it is part of your contract that all work on your books (art, editing, translation, etc.) must be done by humans. I greatly admire this commitment

Apparently I am also practicing car hoarding, house hoarding, husband hoarding, dog hoarding, computer hoarding, furniture hoarding and art hoarding.
stupid young people, stop buying a new phone every year if you don't want to be broke. wait no, not like that.

TFW you run across someone's name in the news whom you haven't thought of for _decades_ and wonder if they are still a heinous bitch. I remember asking if it was a cultural thing or just the way they were and the other people looked guilty and said no, not a cultural thing.

It's a very good YA-friendly series about a group of high school kids who, through one mechanism or another, become superheroes. The biggest theme of the series is PTSD (none through sexual assault!), and I don't think I can recommend it enough. The series is complete (11 books), plus a spinoff.

I don't make a ton of money off my books, but I make money, and that money helps me pay my various life expenses -- which include the cost of putting out my books since I'm an indie author. I pay my editor and cover artists out of pocket, recoup the cost through sales, eventually. (4/)
