Speculation on anyone's trans journey - as common as this practice is - is often unwise, and maybe even a little offensive. Whether you're fascinated with someone because you love them or you hate them, theorising based on "clues" about such a vulnerable personal thing is icky.

I'm not a fictional character and these aren't Easter Eggs. The way that non-binary folk choose to present is not, ipso facto, indicative of a journey towards some other trans identity. It can ebb and flow as much as feels right to them, or based on whatever compromises they have to make.

The decisions I made this year, to start hormones, and switch pronouns, and identify as a woman, were all taken separately and quite knowingly, based on a million billion things. Not least of which: my decade of living as a non-binary person, and my immersion in the trans community.

Some people are like "I knew it!" about my taking hormones, switching to she/her, and identifying as a woman, and their "I knew it!" is based on whatever recent videos they've seen, in which I lose a long beard or whatever. But if you go back through the years the beard comes and goes...

This is me in 2017, and I'm posting it as proof that I didn't "just discover" lipstick or long hair or whatever. A weird part of my being slightly public facing is that a surprising number of people have speculated a made-up timeline for my transition. I find it weird and invalidating of NBs.

The inspiration for this particular post was an exchange between myself and an internet stranger (under a post on Jim Gavin's recent controversy during his Irish presidential campaign) where I expressed overtly anti-landlord sentiments. Which is to say: it was all completely fucking stupid.

This idea that "rich kids talk fancy" is so counter-productive. I'm autistic is what's happening there. I'm still working class. The Irish landlords earning €100,000+ a year who claim working class bona fides because they have a regional accent and regressive views are still capitalist class scum
