And the fact that you think this is an issue that I want to "win" is why support is being lost. It's about people being able to live their lives and not being erased from existence. There are issues that you just can't fold on and this is one of them, at least for me.

Misfortune, maybe some understanding can be extended. And maybe being on the right side of things with your full chest, rather than a tepid squeak of kinda sorta support (or none at all), might actually resonate. But I have no idea, I don’t think that’s ever been tested

I’m not going step back and say, hey it might advance me as a cis gay guy to throw trans people under the bus because it’s simply not the right thing to do. People can have a moral stopping point when it comes to supporting a candidate. And rather than scold them and blame them and promise future

Democrats completely rolled on trans rights and let conservatives walk over them because I frankly don’t think a lot of them cared in the first place. It’s all very cynical and sad. You may very be right (I don’t agree) about political expediency but at a certain point morality trumps that.

Right, and Hillary’s campaign had a huge number of missteps across every facet of the campaign but the thing I remember most about the aftermath of 2016 was going to a dem town hall in Princeton and the strategist only talking about how dems need to move to the right on cultural issues
