I understand. We understand.

We understand the importance that Europe had in your lives and the sense of biting loss for many of you.

We understand what Brexit has done.

There was no Reform in 2016

So, no 😔

It’s ridiculous that those same people instead of expecting the charlatans who promised the impossible to come up with answers demand them from Europe

You made your bed…..now lie in it!!

It’s just so hard to be sympathetic towards people who believe that Europe should solve their self inflicted problems

Millions of people were conned into voting to leave the union by the lies that nothing would change except we could make our own laws and save on membership fees
nialloconghaile.bsky.social
Being in Schengen would not make British people citizens
nialloconghaile.bsky.social
No matter what had been negotiated, two things were clear from the outset because they're part of our internal treaties:
Citizens of third countries can't be citizens of the union.
The UK had to leave the institutions of Europe, all of them, and negotiate new arrangements.

Not understood

Unfortunately while his actual reporting is accurate, his articles are given “click bait” headlines which sometimes paint a different picture to the actual article

And yes, his frequent claim that this was something “negotiated” by HMG rather than a consequence of leaving the EU is rather silly

Simon Calder's reporting on the travel impact of Brexit has been good, but the strangely-worded final line of this ("under the Brexit deal, Boris Johnson’s government negotiated for UK passport holders to become third-country nationals") suggests that, even now, Brexit isn't really understood.

Actually I beg to differ Richard. These people you are citing are pretty wealthy. They can go where they will and set up home there as they have the means to support their every requirement without the help of a state.

They NEED the EU as an enemy… They do NOT want the EU to move at all in

This is another attack on Schengen, on European unity. It is time for pro-Europeans in the UK to say so.

In particular important organisations like @europeanmovement.co.uk and @bremaininspain.com need to say straight - "Schengen is a good thing and should not be abused".

Was just explaining to another Brit, with Residency in France, that no he can't just swop to Spain. He's stunned. I'm stunned he didn't realise just how shit Boris's Brexit deal was, 'cos he was too apathetic at the time to even vote.

Sigh… part time resident!?! No such thing.

The UK is acting like a man who divorced his wife, still lives in the same village as her, and is annoyed that she has taken his name off her car insurance.
nialloconghaile.bsky.social
No, but it is the first step. That's really what's killing this. Nobody is Westminster wants to even talk about that

Sorry to sound a discordent note, but while that should be the direction of travel I doubt if it will be a simple solution, or a quick one…

You (plural) did in accordance with the UKs constitutional arrangements
nialloconghaile.bsky.social
Exactly that.

They agree to pay their tab what they owe only if you get them a special deal on. bar snacks for the year.

Pay what you owe, Tice, don't be a louse

What payments to 🇪🇺 should 🇬🇧 withhold exactly, according to Tice?
Not the payments scheduled under the Withdrawal Agreement, which is an International Treaty,by any chance?
If that's what he means, then I'd suggest 🇪🇺 should withhold payments of pensions to UK ex-MEPs,first&foremost...Tice & Führage ofc

"The need us more than we need them" - R. Tice

As evidenced by the major campaigns of thousands of Europeans with holiday homes in the UK looking for special treatment.
nialloconghaile.bsky.social
Entirely unsurprising that the Holiday Villa 'Ndrangheta have found politcal allies at last in the shape of Reform UK.

Reform really do hypocrisy very well.

As I keep saying, all our ills during membership were blamed on the EU controlling us.
Outside, all our ills are blamed on the EU for punishing us.
The Stoopids will see EES from UK and believe that this only applies to Brits, because that's what they're being told by very loud voices.

They are *very* opposed to overstayers in the UK, but want Britons - because they're British - to be given a bye in Spain and elsewhere in Europe.

This fits with the exceptionalists who argue that Britons should have special treatment and not have to follow the European border code.
