Mr Brazil starts us off inoffensively enough with a fairly boring suit but my goodness he's selling it with that walk. He does get a bonus point for the suit clearly fitting though, because as you will see that is not always a given...

he's dressed as a malandro! its a spirit from afrobrazilian religions who are very strongly connected to the cultural image of Rio de Janeiro, being a spirit connected to our nightlife. not very flashy as Mr Universe costumes go, but a home run for culture-inspired ones!

#SouthAfrica I have come to expect a lot from South Africa who previous years have basically done tiny pants and a giant cape but done it brilliantly. These two don't really feel up to standard (it's also become slightly uncomfortable that Mr South Africa is always white...)

#Nigeria There's an obvious Billy Porter joke about Mr 23, but both these are really great example of costumes that are ridiculous and over the top and clearly full on *costumes* but feeling absolutely of their country and just being all the more brilliant for that

#Mexico Every single year Mexico does some variation of a giant headdress, a cape and a loincloth and it should get a bit repetitive but it absolutely doesn't and every year they're one of the standouts. These are both proper chef's kiss brilliant

#Indonesia Indonesia never let's you down at Mister Global. Both of these are just wonderful, but 24 is the clear winner both because of the way he's modelling it and because he's got an actual skull (monkey skull, possibly?) on his forehead.

#DominicanRepublic Oh the extremes here... Mr 23 wearing actual fucking volcanoes is a serve if there ever was one. Mr 24 and his creepy doll is... not. To be fair, on stage and dancing with her it looked much, much less terrifying than it does in this official photo which was just the wrong choice.

Mr Sri Lanka. This is a rare case where I think the outfit would be better without the giant gold snakes around his head. Maybe add a cape, but I think the rest of the outfit (what little of it there is) is so great that he doesn't need the snakes.

Mr Panama. I don't know if he's annoyed or just concentrating *really* hard so his hat doesn't fall off. It's a nice look but feels like it needs a huge cape or some shoulder feathers or something. I like that the belt makes it look like his tummy button is yelling at us though.

Mr Colombia is the first of our LOOK AT MY TITS contestants, but very much not the last. He looks slightly annoyed, but I cannot fault the combination of the maximum amount of skin on show but also the maximum amount of costume.
