The Canadian edition of THE MAGIC OF POCKETS is making its way into the world this week! Now we have no excuse but to free ourselves from having to ask our bepocketed friends to hold our phone—we will sew pockets into the clothes that, well, really should have them to begin with!

It is baffling that ShipStation STILL WILL NOT LET ME GIVE THEM MY MONEY. It's such a good, stable, robust platform, and now I am having to work around it. Which is taking TIME, which I have in excruciatingly short supply. All because it's not possible to give ShipStation my money 🙄

Something I absolutely needed this week we have a new book coming out is for my shipping platform to not let me upgrade my plan as I've maxed out the number of shipments of the original plan. Why is it so hard to give them my money? Apologies, pre-orderers. I'm trying!

Is there one most-challenging aspect of operating a small press by myself? Yes, it is shipping. This year I feel like I've spent more time sorting shipping, navigating tariffs and CUSMA, making delivery contingency plans than I've spent making books. It's the one thing I sometimes hate about my job.

Release of each of our three 2025 books has coincided with major shipping disruption. In February, QUILTING came in with the announcement of tariffs. In June, THE TRUE COST OF WOOL came in as we braced for a postal strike. Now, THE MAGIC OF POCKETS will ship during a postal strike. It is A LOT.
