Excited to see Episode 2 of Nurses Beyond Borders, where I share my journey as a European-trained nursing academic. I hope my story inspires others to keep pursuing their dreams of working across the globe, despite the current anti-migration rhetoric!

91% of women killed by a man they knew.

71% in their own homes.

59% found with evidence of overkill - the use of excessive, gratuitous violence beyond that necessary to cause the victim’s death.

I agree on the need for alternatives. Our assessments align with ILOs, accommodate adjustments, and meet professional requirements. If either are unsuitable, an individual alternative following our policy would be agreed on. A text-based discussion may then be considered.

I feel that it’s so true. As staff, we were once students, and I’ve noticed that we often benchmark against our own assessment experiences. There seems to be a tendency to worry that novel forms of assessment might disadvantage or adversely impact students future academic progression

Open-minded leadership is so important—it sets the tone for innovation. Mutual trust between staff and students is definitely key…. This means some staff/teachers need to learn to trust and respect their students more. #LTHEchat

Absolutely! That’s exactly it—assessments should give students space to explore, grow, and surprise even themselves. Sadly, a lot of antiquated beliefs still linger, holding back real progress. If we can’t create assessments that inspire and empower, then what are we even doing? #LTHEchat

We settled on a group podcast with individual marks to avoid the freeloader effect. Happy to share more if you’re interested.

Offering a variety of methods/assessment choices ensures that all learners can engage with assessments in a way that suits their strengths and preferences, promoting inclusivity and fairness.

Absolutely, options are crucial. We should also consider alternative assessment choices for students who may not feel comfortable being assessed via podcast.

A6 From our experience, podcasting supports inclusivity by giving students, especially those whose first language isn’t English, a chance to express themselves verbally. It allows for flexibility, making it easier for students to articulate their thoughts and meet diverse language needs #LTHEchat
