I joked the Zines I got from the @seabookfair.bsky.social would be waived around someday when Feds crashed down my door; Well, here’s what it’s gonna look like

These are direct attacks against 1st amendment trying to criminalize independent publishing

Remember, the American Revolution was largely organized by letters, pamphlets, and newspaper articles -- VERY close to the "zines" in question here.

Distroism is not a crime!
This is nothing but an attempt to silence dissent and target people critical of the administration’s actions.

As a bookstore that sells pamphlets and magazines, the criminalization of such materials feels pretty close to home. So let's take a closer look at the materials the federal government is claiming tie readers to "antifa terrorism." We can pick out six titles in these grainy photos. 1/

Anything critical of the gov't is being described as "terrorist literature"

Alarming criminalization of green card holder based on "Antifa Materials" - another attempt to silence dissent and target people critical of this administration

Release Des and the Prairieland Defendants!

“Des's indictment should shock us all, as all that is alleged is the movement of a box of political ‘documents and propaganda’ (i.e. zines) from one place to another.”

An indictment of a green card holder for having a box lefty zines is bad—and an actual free speech issue.

"Antifa materials" is intended to sound sinister but the government is talking about ESSAYS. If you read literature the regime disapproves of, you might be a terrorist, too.

Having a crusty zine crumpled in the bottom of your backpack will be a federal crime soon.

Together, we’ll explore:

- What’s new and concerning about the federal domestic terrorism apparatus

- How these policies may target activists, trans people, and other vulnerable communities

- Practical steps for staying informed, secure, and organized
This urgent conversation comes amid growing political attacks, including Representative Lance Gooden’s (R–TX) formal request that the Department of Justice investigate the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) over its alleged association with “Antifa” or “antifascism.”
The National Lawyers Guild Review (NLGR) will bring together activists, legal experts, and organizers to unpack what these shifts mean in practice.
Paired with inflammatory claims about so-called “transgender extremism” and Donald Trump’s executive order targeting “Antifa,” these developments signal a disturbing effort to criminalize dissent and stigmatize marginalized communities.
A recently issued presidential directive, National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM-7), reportedly identifies a range of progressive, “anti-American,” and “anti-Christian” beliefs as potential indicators of “terrorism.”
