Something like this might make more sense for our upcoming Polaris, it uses 2" filters but if we use 1" 3M Filtrete with a mesh pellet screen like you are making that would be pretty amazing.

Thanks for the suggestions. The interesting thing is that testing by Rob Wissman shows you can get away with having filters very close to a wall before you see a significant drop in performance. We don't use USB power, a 12v / 2amp supply is included.

I'm exploring the use of mesh bags of carbon pellets suspended inside an air purifier as a possibly more effective way of dealing with VOCs.

It uses four Arctic P14 fans and two Ikea Starkvind filters. With an integrated handle, rubber feet and a wide footprint to prevent tipping.

Ideal for smaller spaces or for hospital stays. I'll have it up on our website soon.

Checking out some nifty digital timers to add automation control to an air purifier. Up to 15Amps so you can have multiple units controlled. Great for classrooms where you can just hit the 8-hour button and you are good!

Oh yes, we already have our MINI-SC which uses 4 x P8 Max fans and has PWM speed control. I'm working on something called the "Guardian" which I'm hoping will be the cheapest machine we will make, 4 x 140mm fans and 2 x Ikea Starkvind.

We'd only been in BC a month or so when a wildfire rained ash on our car and smogged up our apartment. Worked with the folks @northboxsystems.bsky.social (thanks to a rec from @cleanairkits.bsky.social) and got a custom air purifier together with adjustable speed fans. No more proprietary filters!

On the left a Coway Mega air purifier. On the right a North Box 6XL purifier that uses computer cooling fans and furnace filters.

Realizing the original 8 x 80mm fan was misguided, here is the redesigned Guardian. My goal was to make the cheapest, quietest and most portable solution. Aiming for chemo patients going into hospital, it can be a great solution for any smaller space.

My goal with the Guardian was to make a cheaper small purifier that used less expensive fans than the P8-Max. The new Guardian design will be closer to a cube shape so not quite as portable but low cost and easy to assemble.

Hi, after some thought we are doing a re-design of this concept to make it less expensive but still combining powerful performance and very quiet operation. I'll be posting an image of the prototype soon! (all our designs use 12 volt 2.1mm power connections so you can use portable batteries.)
