I regret the past 10 years of time wasted arguing or lurking or whatever. I couldn’t tear myself away even knowing how awful these companies are, because I kept thinking “well, this is easy and convenient” but no, I think it only added to my own delusions. We’re not made to see everyone’s thoughts.

old news to many of u but I would like to report my findings: I’ve been drawing more, working better, and having quality interactions texting or face2face after ditching (most) of my social media. It’s hard but worth the extra effort. I don’t want to give meta any more of my time.

my unsolicited advice for comics/illos— always draw in the speech bubbles before u draw the art. mockup booklet all ur pages so u know beats per pageturns & center spread. use standard page sizes until you are certain it’s worth the upcharge. get used to rejection. use trace paper & tape for drafts!

Idk where u are exactly in ur trajectory, but it took me a decade of work to even start getting $$ commissions from word of mouth. I could never do this as a career tho, it takes an exceptional circumstance to make livable wage off of art. It sucks!! I only know a handful of ppl that made it work 🙃
