Doug Ford is ignoring mayors and putting lives at risk to score political points.

A government elected by only 40% of voters shouldn’t have unchecked power to make reckless decisions like this.

Ontario needs proportional representation so every vote counts.
Graphic with a headline from a news article stating that Doug Ford rejected mayors’ plea to keep speed cameras. Above, text highlights that when someone is inevitably hurt or killed due to this reckless policy, we should remember the government did it with a false majority despite most voters choosing another party. Below, it urges support for proportional representation so no party can play politics with road safety.

Man in yellow t-shirt and lumberjack shirt petting a painted dog on a mural. The mural also shows a stall door with a horse looking out, a wooden house, and some chickens. There are hints that the mural continues with a green filed, tree, and blue sky.

"It has long been obvious that the fossil fuel lobby has a powerful influence on the Liberal Party of Canada. However, it is truly amazing to see how quickly they have gained influence over this new Prime Minister." - @drlorileeoates.bsky.social

Next in Dialectical Biology Today: @hylomorphic.bsky.social weaves together historical threads from Hegel, Engels, & others to illustrate how Lewontin's dialectical biology critiques an anti-revolutionary, conservative ideology at the heart of population genetics & evolutionary ecology 🌱🐋

Francesco Della Questa, Still Life with Fish, Shellfish and Crustaeans (ca. 1690-1699)
quite a dark painting. Light shines on a pile of various kinds of fish, some sepia, an octopus. Behind them is a basket with more fish. To the left some clams and red corals. There might be some other shellfish. Hard to see in the dark tones. It is a presentation of the species that are fished in the region.

Toasted sesame with cream cheese and lox and maybe some pickled onions and capers, if it is after 11am.

Alternatively everything with dill cream cheese.

I keep things simple

It was interesting, esp. how he tried to bring biological evolution and Marxism together. There is more tomorrow.

We should talk way more about how Canada is basically five banks, five big insurance companies, three telcos, two grocery chains, a handful of big REITs and some mining concerns.

The deeply entrenched power of our corporate overlords is a big reason why Canadian politics & culture is the way it is.
