Look if your house blows up and you call the plumber it’s reasonable for the plumber to take a look and say yeah man, your house blew up. Sometimes a doctor tells you your prognosis fuckin sucks. Why is that answer not allowed here?

Preparing for Jennifer Rajkumar to say that anyone criticizing her for being weirdly chummy with out and out fascists is just revealing their latent anti-Indian racism against Desi folx

Because if you take this framing literally, all that’s necessary to tar Zohran Mamdani as an antisemite is for one (1) jewish person to say his position falls by definition within the scope of antisemitism,as they have defined it,their definition being unassailable as one produced by a Jewish person.

Trans people are *the* determinative authority on what constitutes transphobia, Jewish people on antisemitism, and so on.

My point is that this, specifically, is wrong, and if Democrats are not clear that it is wrong, they are vulnerable to any member of a minority group willing to grind an axe
onbluskysku.bsky.social
Tbc even while most people accept this, there is a persistent idea that even if minorities can be bigoted, they are authorities on the matter of what is bigoted against the group in which they are a minority, ex: Black people are *the* determinative authority on what constitutes anti-black racism

In the same way that say, the uniqueness of Texan food culture can produce a way of preparing brisket without it meaning that brisket is uniquely Texan
onbluskysku.bsky.social
There’s an original and it does say “the uniqueness of Israeli society”, which is true, the uniqueness of Israeli society does produce specific recipes. It just doesn’t mean that a whole class of food, like say, hummus, is at all unique to Israel
onbluskysku.bsky.social
The original image does not say that these foods are unique to Israel. You can dig it up if you want. It just does not say those words.
onbluskysku.bsky.social
No, but plenty of jews don't keep kosher
onbluskysku.bsky.social
who said that these foods are, to be specific here, uniquely Israeli?
onbluskysku.bsky.social
Yeah kinda. It does require Mamdani, a muslim, being able to say to these people, jews, that he knows better than they do what antisemitism is. And that's ok, because he does! He is correct and they are not! Even if every single Jewish person thought he was antisemitic he would remain equally not.
onbluskysku.bsky.social
Because if you don't do this then every conservative asshole in New York who also happens to be Jewish has an ace card that their lived experience of the nature of antisemitism has given them access to underrepresented ways of knowing that Zohran Mamdani hates jews and how dare you question that?
onbluskysku.bsky.social
Democrats are going to need to get good at saying clearly that people in minority groups can invoke their identity to make a political point either in bad faith or in ways that are just plain wrong, and they are going to need to get good at saying this *even when they are not in that group*

I didn’t take it because I tested out on the AP, though I do remember we did hear about Brandenburg in HS, but does intro gov in college typically teach civil liberties in a way that the AP gov’t class does not?
onbluskysku.bsky.social
Yeah Baker gets you that districts must be similar in population, Shaw gets you that districts can’t be based on race outside of passing strict scrutiny. That seems important for understanding redistricting
onbluskysku.bsky.social
It’s not really about what’s most important in general as I see it. It’s about what’s most important for understanding the structure of the government. And rules for how members of Congress can get elected are part of that in a way that rules for what speech the government can punish are not

Pretty sure @neorsd.org also deals with Cleveland Browns
onbluskysku.bsky.social
I think because it’s about the structure of how the government is formed not just general constitutional law

Why? It isn’t a real recipe this is a meme someone made up to get you to resent it
